WW2 Airborne Forces 1942 fibre rim steel helmet with leather harness. A rare early example made by Briggs Motor Bodies, Ltd (Dagenham). The shell retains fibre rim, green painted finish and bears four crudely painted chevrons. The interior retains leather sweatband with “BMB” logo and date 1942. This is supported by the early style black rubber & yellow felt padding blocks. To the crown a black oilcloth and fibre pad and also white herringbone weave white cotton crown cradle. The leather harness is the early stitched pattern. The rear of the sweatband with pencil inscription “3400 ? WADE” (This faint). The overall condition is good, the shell with a number of bangs and dents and has been repainted during it’s working life. The leather harness remains supple, but has undergone basic restoration to the ring catch strap, and now only one ring present. This does not effect the overall appearance.
