Hans Beisswenger signed 6 x 4 wartime photo. (1916-1943) 152 victories. German Luftwaffe fighter ace and recipient of the Knight`s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves during World War II. In 500 combat missions, Beisswenger was credited with 152 victories, making him the 34th highest-scoring Luftwaffe fighter pilot of World War II. He was Ace in a Day twice, shooting down five aircraft on a single day. He claimed all but one of his victories over the Eastern front. He was reported missing in action in March 1943. The Heinrich Hoffmann sepia coloured postcard photograph shows him in his Luftwaffe officers uniform, and he has boldly signed his name in ink below his image. Good condition
Major Gordon Gollob KC OL SD signed 6 x 4 wartime Hoffman portrait photo. He rose to the position of General der Jagdflieger, and was one of only 27 to receive the Knight`s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds. At the time of its presentation to Gollob it was Germany`s highest military decoration. Gollob was credited with 150 aerial victories—that is, 150 aerial combat encounters resulting in the destruction of the enemy aircraft—achieved in 340 missions. He recorded 144 victories over the Eastern front. Gollob was the first pilot in aviation history to claim 150 aerial victories. Kurt Ubben KC OL, signed wartime Hoffman photo. Signed wartime Hoffman photo. Killed in 1944 with 110 victories over enemy aircraft in over 500 combat missions. 90 of his victories were claimed over the Eastern front. On 27 April 1944, Ubben engaged United States Army Air Forces P-47 fighters near Fère-en-Tardenois. In the ensuing combat, Ubben was shot down in Fw 190. He bailed out but his parachute failed to open either due to insufficient altitude or because of an improperly fastened harness. INDIA - RARE MEMOIRS OF RANJIT SINGH`S COLONEL OF ARTILLERY - Soldier and Traveller: Memoirs of Alexander Gardner, Colonel of Artillery in the Service of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Ed., By Major Hugh Pearse, 1898, First edition, 345pp, Original brick-red cloth lettered in gilt on the spine and in black on the upper cover. Frontispiece photogravure portrait of Gardner bedecked in a tartan Sikh uniform with matching turban. One other plate and two maps. Alexander Gardner (1785-1877), was an American adventurer and mercenary of Scottish extraction. He travelled Afghanistan, joining the rebel Habibullah, and then to the Punjab commanding units of Ranjit Sigh`s artillery forces. He recorded his adventures in contemporary diaries recounting them, apparently with embellishments, as an elderly man to Major Hugh Pearse. They have since gone down in literary folklore. His memoirs give biographical details of around 40 European Soldiers in Ranjit Singh`s service during the Sikh Kingdom.

Built by Francesco de` Medici to a design by Bernado Buontalenti in 1585-9, this hexagonal domed room at the Uffizi Palace, displayed the masterpieces of the Medici collection. Zoffany brings into his painting other works and objects from elsewhere in the Grand Duke`s collection to create a symposium in accordance with contemporary taste. He includes portraits of Florentine connoisseurs and diplomats in addition to young Englishmen passing through the city on the Grand Tour.Print size inches: 8.9 x 7.1

A Crimea Medal to W C Devereux, Clerk`s Assistant HMS Swallow with Sebastopol and Azoff clasps together with A Turkish Crimea Medal (Sardinian Issue) unnamed together with the miniatures. Also a small collection of later memorabilia relating to William Cope Devereux and his descendants including two Christ`s Hospital Medals dated 1854, a Boer War cigarette tin 1900, a commemorative Coronation tin 1902 and a selection of brass uniform buttons and cap badges and other objects. Provenance: William Cope Devereux was born on 11 December 1837, the son of William Devereux, and educated at Christ`s Hospital from 1845 to 1854. He entered the Royal Navy as an Assistant Clerk in H.M.S. Swallow in September 1854. In the Crimean war he served off Sebastopol, at the bombardment of Soujak, the blockade of Kertch and Yenikale, and the operations in the Sea of Azov. He was an author and travelled with Dr Livingstone on The Zambesi HMS Swallow was a Swallow class sloop launched in 1854 and served in the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and the China sea before returning to Portland in 1866
