A late 19th Century Vernis Martin style three-panel screen, the gilded frame with acanthus and floral decoration, each of the panels painted a scene, Childlike Innocents, The Suitor and The Lovers, raised on six feet, 142.5cm wide/see illustration Condition Report: Painted panels in good condition. Central panel cracking in places. Gilt frame complete but artificially rubbed in places. Later brocade backs to the panels. Client purchased the screen at Harrods, 23 February 2002, where it was described as French circa 1900.
A Japanese Ivory and Shibayama Table Screen (Tsuitate), Meiji period, the two leaves inlaid with an eagle perched in a tree, monkeys below, the reverse with a river landscape over foliate pierced panels within frames gilt with mons and foliage, on bracket feet, bears signatures, 30cm high See illustration. Tail section of eagle missing. One section of foliage missing. Other tiny losses. Both panels with shrinkage related splits approx 2-2.5cm long visible from reverse.
