Lot 600

MICHAEL JACKSON - The Omer Bhatti Collection: Michael Jackson's Black-beaded Necklace with Stone - A black-beaded necklace previously owned and worn by Michael Jackson. This necklace is Jackson's most well-known and recognisable jewellery piece. There are many photographs of him wearing the distinctive black-beaded necklace on and off stage. Some instances include: out in London with Lisa Marie Presley in July 1997; his exclusive interview with Barbara Walters on 7 September 1997, and on stage for the second leg of his HIStory tour. This lot comes from the personal collection of Norwegian rapper and dancer Omer Bhatti, to whom Jackson personally gifted this necklace in the early 2000s. Initially, the necklace was gifted to Jackson by a German friend, and it is believed he received it in Germany on the HIStory tour. It has not been worn since Bhatti received it, and the wear on the necklace is from Jackson wearing it frequently.Although Jackson was known for his heavily embellished outfits, he was not known for wearing much jewellery. His black necklace was a sentimental item and one of his treasured possessions. Jackson considered himself a spiritual person, so he would naturally gravitate to items containing stones due to their supposed special properties. Many reproductions and replicas of this necklace have come to market in recent years. It is rare for jewellery items associated with the King of Pop to come up for sale. The necklace comprises black-painted glass beads and a square-shaped gold-coloured metal pendant featuring a synthetic garnet stone. The stone is very dark red, which looks black. Attached to the pendant is an additional oval tag on which Dyrberg/Kern, the jeweller's name, is engraved. There are some gold-coloured paint remnants on the smaller beads either side of the clasp. The metal components exhibit light tarnishing, and the black finish has worn away on several beads. The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Bhatti.Additional provenance:This lot comes from the personal collection of Norwegian rapper and dancer Omer Bhatti, who established himself through touring and numerous television appearances. In 1996, Bhatti met his idol Michael Jackson in Tunisia. After being impressed by Bhatti's dance moves, Jackson became his mentor, spending time with him while travelling and at Neverland. This led to a lasting connection between the Bhatti and Jackson families, which remained strong until Jackson's death in 2009.Estimate: £40,000 - 80,000 Ω Bidding for this lot will end on Friday, November 15th. The auction will begin at 3:00 PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on Thursday, November 14th, Saturday, November 16th or Sunday, November 17th.

Lot 602

MICHAEL JACKSON - The Omer Bhatti Collection: Michael Jackson's Black Corduroy Shirt - A custom-made black corduroy shirt previously owned and worn by Michael Jackson. Jackson was pictured wearing his black corduroy shirt over several years, including during the Bad Tour rehearsals at the Pensacola Civic Centre, Florida, in early 1988. He also wore it in May 1998 when he visited Namibia, where he met with President Sam Nujoma and spoke at The Southern African Economic Forum. This lot comes from the personal collection of Norwegian rapper and dancer Omer Bhatti. It was personally gifted to Bhatti by Jackson at his Neverland Ranch, and the shirt came from Jackson's memorabilia room. Bhatti can be seen wearing the shirt with Jackson in photographs taken at Jackson's child's second birthday party. A recognisable piece of the King of Pop's custom wardrobe, this black corduroy shirt has red-and-gold satin embellishments on the collar tips and matching coloured epaulettes. A pocket adorns the right side of the chest, and seven metal buttons decorated with a coat of arms are affixed down the front. There are no size or maker labels, and the garment displays minor loose threads. However, it remains in excellent overall condition considering its age. Lot 606

MICHAEL JACKSON: THRILLER - Michael Jackson's Tour Rehearsal "Thriller" Jacket Autographed by Jackson, John Landis and Deborah Nadoolman Landis - A "Thriller" jacket worn by Michael Jackson during tour rehearsals, autographed by Jackson, director John Landis and his wife, costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis. This jacket was displayed for 12 years as one of the most significant items at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, where it was viewed and admired by fans from around the world. Jackson originally donated thisThriller jacket, worn by him during tour rehearsals, to entertainment manager and fundraiser Ken Kragen for a USA for Africa Foundation auction charity in the 1990s. Kragen is best known for helping organise the "We Are the World" charity single, which was written by Jackson and Lionel Richie. A collaboration between Jackson and Landis, the video for "Thriller" was a 14-minute short film which changed how people viewed music videos. It doubled the sales of Jackson's Thriller album, making it the best-selling record in history, and transformed the singer into a global superstar. But there was one particular aspect of the video that fans really went wild for. Designed by Deborah Nadoolman Landis and made by Marc Laurent, the distinctive red-and-black leather jacket worn by Jackson is one of the most recognisable and coveted pieces of clothing in pop-culture history. Against the muted tones of the creepy setting and background zombie dancers, the vibrant red and altered silhouette of Jackson's attire captured everyone's attention, sparking a new fashion trend, with many copies and variations flooding the market. The legacy of Jackson's "Thriller" jacket was cemented by his subsequent tours, for which Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins, his personal costume designers and dressers, themselves produced several recreations of the garment. The jacket is made of red leather with decorative black leather strips forming a "V" shape on the front and back, which emphasises the extended shoulders. The sleeve cuffs and waistband also display black strips. The garment features trapunto stitching on the collar and shoulders, metal D-rings on the cuffs and several red-coloured poppers. One side of the chest is autographed in black ink by Jackson. Inside the garment is a "Marc Laurent Paris" label sewn onto a rectangular red-and-black leather piece. The jacket's lining is also autographed in black ink by John Landis and Deborah Nadoolman Landis. There are minor marks on the sleeves, some small loose threads, and the ink on the lining fabric has bled slightly in places. Despite signs of light wear from previous use during the tour rehearsals, the jacket remains in excellent overall condition, considering its age. The jacket is accompanied by a scan of a letter from Michael Jackson Productions, signed by Michael Jackson, dated June 25 1990, confirming provenance. In the letter, Jackson explains that the signed Thriller jacket enclosed is for Ken Kragen's upcoming auction and that it was worn during tour rehearsals. The original letter was mislaid during the last transfer of ownership and its absence has only come to light at the conclusion of the jacket's exhibition at the Grammy Museum. The autographs in this lot have been professionally authenticated by expert Garry King; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.Estimate: £150,000 - 300,000 Ω Bidding for this lot will end on Friday, November 15th.

MICHAEL JACKSON - Michael Jackson's Fedora - A fedora that was part of Michael Jackson's personal collection. The fedora became one of Jackson's signature clothing items during his reign as the King of Pop, and he had multiple fedoras styled in various ways. In 1992, Jackson gifted this particular hat to Wayne Nagin, a former security guard for MJJ Productions, who worked with the singer for over 20 years. The black woollen fedora is decorated with a black grosgrain ribbon, and the internal leather sweatband features "Michael Jackson" in gold-coloured text. A loose internal label is marked size "Large". The auction will begin at 3:00 PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Lot 610

MICHAEL JACKSON - Michael Jackson's Victory Tour Stage-worn Fedora - Michael Jackson's stage-worn fedora from the Jacksons' 1984 Victory Tour, which took in 55 concert dates across the US and Canada. The Victory Tour was the last tour Jackson did with his brothers and many fans attended purely to see him after the worldwide success of his acclaimed album Thriller.Jackson wore this fedora during rehearsals for the Victory Tour, and during the first section of his "Billie Jean" performance on 14 July 14 1984, at Texas Stadium. It was given to an employee of Pepsi-Cola as a thank-you for their hard work.Made by Maddest Hatter Los Angeles, the fur-felt fedora is marked as a size "7 3/8". It features a grosgrain ribbon and is lined in white silk displaying the maker's company name, with an internal leather sweatband stamped "Made Expressly For Michael Jackson, by Maddest Hatter Los Angeles". The lining and size label exhibit some staining and marks. Jackson originally donated these loafers to conductor and producer Glen Roven, to sell at a fundraising event. Both soles of these black leather Florsheim tassel loafers are autographed in black ink by Jackson. The loafers also feature wooden and leather soles which appear to have been scored. The autograph is tricky to see in places due to wear on the underside of the shoes. The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from MJJ Productions, a signed letter from Roven detailing the lot's history and how he worked on the special, Rover's all-access pass from the event, and two printed promotional images. The autographs in this lot have been professionally authenticated by expert Garry King; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.Estimate: £5,000 - 10,000 M Bidding for this lot will end on Friday, November 15th.
