Ancient Burmese fossil Amber with Millipede insect. 17.6mm. Also known as Burmite or Kachin amber, is amber from the Hukawng Valley in northern Myanmar, it is dated to around 100 million years old, during the latest Albian to earliest Cenomanian ages of the mid-Cretaceous period. The amber is of significant palaeontological interest due to the diversity of flora and fauna contained as inclusions, particularly arthropods including insects and arachnids but also birds, lizards, snakes, frogs and fragmentary dinosaur remains. The amber has been known and commercially exploited since the first century AD, and has been known to science since the mid-nineteenth century.

Provenance: The Old Chapel, Bruton; Private collection, Gloucestershire, UK "The stone can be described as a fossil-rich limestone with a crystalline lime/calcium carbonate cement in which the dominant fossils are Globerigina... Mineral or rock segment depicting three-toed dinosaur fossil tracks from the Conneticut River Valley near Holyoke, Massachusetts. The tracks resemble footprints formed by Dilophosaurus theropods, especially grallator and eubrontes specimens. Possibly Late Triassic to Early Jurassic or Cretaceous periods.Height: 1 1/2 in x width: 16 in x depth: 13 in.Condition: Due to the nature of the material, it is difficult to discern whether there is any damage; however, there do not appear to be any breaks or losses in the object.

A 19th Century Gilt Bronze Gueridon, possibly Russian, with circular specimen marble top with central panel within a border of fossil marbles, the guilloche moulded edge above three mask loop handles, on tapering supports with claw feet joined by a triform marble base (losses)45cm by 88cmVarious losses to the top (as photographed). Some small areas of cracking to the marble top? Some loose pieces of the table top are available, though not complete. Please see further images for additional pieces. The table is structurally weak, with some movement to the break in the marble base (as photographed). There are further chips and losses around the triform base, with a section of marble also replaced. Crack to base with various looses (see images).
