To include: a Spode Gothic Castle pattern dessert dish, a Don Pottery Named Italian Views sauce tureen stand, a Buffalo pattern basket and a later sauce ladle. 18 - 28 cm wide. A 19th century Staffordshire political reform mug, transfer printed with "The real Cabinet of Friendship" opposed by "Every one helped his Neighbour" (a/f); together with a pottery jug, probably Don, of baluster form, printed and painted with birds, a butterfly and floral sprays, printed "Genuine Opaque China" mark (extensively broken and re-glued). A group of early nineteenth century blue and white transfer-printed Swan-knop teapots, c.1800-20. To include: a Don Pottery Fence Pagoda pot, an Arched Bridge pot, possibly Dudson and a chinoiserie teapot, possibly Machin. 23 - 24 cm long. (3)Condition: Dudson with restored knop and tip of spout and there is a crack in the body to one side, Don with restored swan's neck and chip to gallery. Provenance: From the Trevor Kentish collection.

It is decorated with a titled view of the Residence of Solimenes near Vesuvius from the Named Italian Views series and has factory impressed marks. 32 cm wide. An early nineteenth century Don Pottery blue and white transfer printed footed cheese stand, circa 1820. It is printed with a Italian scene from the Landscape series. It has the Don Pottery blue-printed mark to the underside. 29 cm wide. (1)From the estate of the late Norman Walmsley. Condition: In generally good overall condition bar some glaze losses to the underside.

A pair of Staffordshire pottery equestrian figures of Thomas Parr type of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, circa 1860, typically modelled facing left and right on titled bases, 24cm & 20cm high; and a later model of Sancho Panza of William Kent ltd. type Provenance: Property of Hermione, the late Countess of Ranfurly (1913-2001) and thence by descent.The Countess of Ranfurly (1913-2001) came to public attention with the publication of the first volume of her diaries To War With Whitaker 1939-45 (Heinemann 1994) in which she details her trials and tribulations following her husband, a lieutenant in the yeomanry regiment, the Sherwood Rangers through the North African campaigns with his valet Whitaker. After the war and with a house to fill she assembled a notable collection of mid 19th century Staffordshire figures, many of which were photographed for Commander Gordon-Pugh's seminal work on the subject.

*Churchill (Winston Spencer, 1874-1965). An unsmoked Cuban cigar with label of Don Joaquin Habana, J. Cuesta, wrapped in the original cellophane, and contained within a cedarwood King Edward single cigar box with sliding lid, 22cm length, together with a French pottery ashtray, blue glaze, printed in black, 'Hotel de Paris, Monte-Carlo', stamped 'La St Uzienne, St Uze, Drome', 12cm diameter, plus two press photographs featuring Winston Churchill and his bodyguard Sergeant Murray Provenance: The ashtray is believed to be a keepsake from one of Churchill's numerous visits to the famous hotel, and kept by his bodyguard Edmund 'Eddie' Murray. A small typed note signed by Murray's wife Beryl accompanies the lot and reads: 'Edmund Murray, bodyguard to Sir Winston Churchill (1950-1965), brought this ashtray back from Monte Carlo after one of Sir Winston's numerous holidays at the Hotel de Paris (1955) in Monte Carlo'. The cigar was also given to Murray by Sir Winston, circa 1955. (6)
