[MacDonagh (Donagh)] An interesting and detailed TLs. signed 'Denis' (probably the poet Denis Devlin), from an address in Rome, Viale Liegi, 23.5.1939, 1 pp folio, to MacDonagh, offering a detailed criticism of his poems and a play, quoting various lines which he likes or does not like, etc., also mentioning Niall (Montgomery?) and others. 'Brian O'N's book is marvellous -- in two meanings. I'm trying to write him something about it but there's so much to gloss.' As a m/ss, w.a.f. (1)* Devlin was a diplomat, stationed in Rome in 1938-39.
