An Austro-Hungarian Silver and Enamel Cigarette-Case, Maker's Mark Indistinct, First Quarter 20th Century, oblong, the hinged cover enamelled with a scene of Leda and the Swan, the interior gilded, 9cm wide, gross weight 3oz 17dwt, 120gr. Marked inside base and cover with maker's mark and standard mark. Both are indistinct. There is some overall surface scratching, consistent with age and use. There are some scratches to the enamel and some very small chips to the edges.
A Victorian Gold Cigarette-Case, by William Gibson and John Lawrence Langman, London, 1895, Retained by The Goldsmiths Co., 115 Regent St. W., 9ct, curved oblong, the hinged cover engraved with a crest, engraved inside with an inscription dated 1897, 8cm high, 3oz 1dwt, 95gr. Marked inside each cover. Further stamped inside 'Goldsmiths Co 112 Regent St W'. The marks are clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some bruises, particularly to one corner.
A George V Silver Cigarette-Box, by Mappin and Webb, Birmingham, 1924, oblong, the sides and hinged cover each engine-turned, wood lined, 18cm wide. Fully marked on side of base. The side of the cover further part marked. There is some wear to the marks, though each is generally still legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are also some dings and minor dents. The inside of the cover is silver-gilt and not wood lined.

EISENHOWER & TEDDER: EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) American General of World War II. American President 1953-61 & TEDDER ARTHUR: (1890-1967) British Air Force Commander of World War II, Marshal of the RAF. An attractive 8vo menu card for a celebration dinner of the SHAEF Headquarters staff at Reims, 10th May 1945, in celebration of the surrender of Germany, individually signed by both Eisenhower and Tedder with their names alone in fountain pen inks to clear areas of the cover. The cover features a good original pen and ink illustration by Castaing depicting a corpulent waiter lighting the cigarette of an attractive young lady seated at a table upon which appears a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket. To the inside appears the typed menu, in French, including dishes associated with the Allied victory ('Les Hor D'Oeuvres des Alliees', 'Turbot de la Grande Bretagne', 'Gateau de la Victoire', 'Glace de la R.A.F.' etc). Some extremely light, minor age wear, otherwise VGA rare menu signed just one day after the German Instrument of Surrender had been signed in the presence of Tedder in his capacity as Deputy Supreme Commander at Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) under Eisenhower.
