Reproduction of Old Swansea a Carlton Ware vase pattern 624 printed and painted in colours and gilt with floral roundels on a blue Imari ground designed by Horace Wain circa 1912 blue crown mark Reproduction Old Swansea mark 22.5cm. high Clives uncle and godfather Sir Leslie Joseph held a world renowned collection of Swansea and Nantgarw pottery and porcelain-one of the main inspirations for Clives interest in ceramics. The vase being sold here is particularly significant. The pattern from which it was copied is illustrated in Swansea Porcelain Shapes and Decoration by A E (Jimmy) Jones and Sir Leslie Joseph published by D Brown & Sons Ltd Cowbridge 1988 page 177 pattern 219.

Clive clearly recollected these pieces from his childhood and they still evoked the same frisson of fun and enjoyment. The pieces had been a wedding present to his parents.
