*Brock (Henry Matthew, 1875-1960). A set of drawings for The Breakfast Table Series, by Oliver Wendall Holmes, published by J.M. Dent, 1902, approximately 140 pencil sketches on paper, mostly figure and composition studies, e.g. a jester, a mermaid, men boxing, children at school, a singer and pianist, the Grim Reaper, children hitching a lift on the back of a carriage, a barber, viewing the Elgin Marbles, a harpist, boys fighting, etc., a few sheets with drawings on both sides, some spotting and marks, most with pin holes to margins, occasional short edge-tears and minor creasing, sheet size 28.5 x 22cm (11.25 x 8.75ins), contained in an envelope addressed to the artist, and titled by him in pencil 'Sketches for Breakfast Table Series' (approx.140)
