WW1 1st Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment “Battle of Mons” Souvenir. This is in the form of a muzzle of a SMLE rifle, retaining its original broken, hooked quillon 1907 pattern bayonet. This bearing an issue stamp of “1 W K”. and issue dated December 1910. Retaining fragment of old label. The vendor has provided a transcript of what the label had written upon it “Captain D Cheeseman “Behold a relic of Mons” . GC. The 1st Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment landed in France on the 22nd August 1914 and was present at the Battle of Mons and later at Neuve Chapelle.

Four good conduct chevrons ... One red & three blue overseas cloth chevrons ... the interior with paper label and dated 1916. The doublet is in very good condition a small amount of moth peppering. Tailored with a lining to the inside of the collar. GC ... Accompanied by a Regimental pattern kilt, this being a WW1 period example with evidence of a paper issuing label and ink stamp “Cam 7229”. Good clean condition ... Also a 1908 webbing belt, this fitted with a 1908 Bayonet (4 items)
