Composite Meissen Monkey Band, 20th Century, after the Rococo models by Johann Joachim Kandler and Peter Reinicker, the music playing monkeys, modelled respectively as conductor, 18.5cm; music stand; with kettle drums; with clarinet; with trumpet; with violin; four female singers; with bagpipe; with French horn; with flute; with drumsticks; with triangle; with signed drum; with mandolin; with guitar; with bassoon; a riding keyboard player; and with harp. A grand piano by M. A. Stein, Vienna, circa 1805 The cherry case stained to simulate a tropical hardwood, perhaps rosewood, the lower case sides with a later gilt metal band running below an inlaid fruitwood line, later brass beading to the perimeter of the lid. Raised on four later square tapered legs. The line inlaid nameboard with later applied gilt decorations flanking a white diamond shaped plaque within a gilt frame inscribed: André Stein d'Augsbourg à Vienne. The six octave keyboard FF-f4 with bone naturals and ebony capped accidentals. Viennese action with three knee levers controlling bassoon and damper combinations. FF-F Bichord, F#-f4 trichord. An upright Lyraflügel by Schleip, Berlin, circa 1828 The mahogany veneered case, the silk-backed section above the keyboard in the form of a lyre with seven gilded 'strings' running vertically at the centre. The case surmounted by a pair of ormolu mythical beasts flanking an ormolu spray of fruit and foliage. Raised on four scrolling legs with lion's paw feet to the front. The mahogany nameboard inlaid with geometric stringing bearing an inset plaque inscribed: J. C. Schleip in Berlin. The six and a half octave keyboard DD-g4 with chamfered ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. Single bridge, escapement action, with three knee levers operating keyboard shift, bassoon and dampers. The walnut nameboard bearing a white plaque within a decorative gilt frame inscribed (later): Georg Haschka in Wien. According to Colt inscribed under the wrestplank: George Haschka. The six octave and seven note keyboard CC-g4 with bone naturals and ebony capped accidentals. Viennese action. Single bridge. Stretcher with a lyre and five pedals operating keyboard shift, bassoon, dampers, moderator and Janissary effects. Length 241cm, width 136cm, case height including lid and leg blocks 37cm. A square piano by Frey, Paris 1820. The flame mahogany case raised on four columnar legs with brass collars on a curved crossed stretcher base. The curved ash nameboard with a glass plaque within a gilt frame bearing (either side of a regal crest) the inscription: de Frey Père &Fils, Brevetes Leurs Altesses Royales, Monsieur Frère du Roi, Mme. Duchess d'Angoulême, Mme. la Duchesse de Berry & de S. A. S., Mme. la Duchesse Douairiére d'Orleans, L. Vieille Rue du Temple hôtel des Ambassadeurs d'Hollande, No. 51 À PARIS. 1820. The six octave keyboard FF-f4 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. One knee lever and five pedals, mounted on a lyre, operating a buff stop, dampers, moderator, bassoon and drum. A square piano by Erard, Paris, 1804 The mahogany panelled case with a quarter-round gilt metal moulding around the skirting, raised on four turned tapered legs with brass collars and turned brass feet. The maple nameboard cross-banded with satinwood and inlaid with simple stringing inscribed: Erard Freres, Rue Du Mail N.37. à Paris 1804. The five and a half octave keyboard FF-c4 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. Inscribed in ink on the soundboard: Erard Freres à Paris 1804 / No 6075. Double action. Four pedals, mounted on back leg stretcher; according to Colt they controlled 'Sustaining, Bassoon, Buff, Celeste'. The piano retains its original two piece internal cover. Bichord to e3 and trichord above. Continuous ebonised bridge. Lyre mounted on the front leg stretcher, the latter with four pedals operating bassoon, keyboard shift, moderator and sustain.
