Late Period, circa 500 B.C. A blue-glazed composition amulet formed as baboon-headed Hapi with stylised detailing to one face; two piercings for attachment or suspension. 7.13 grams, 78 mm (3 in.). From an old UK collection. Acquired 1960s-1990s. From the private collection of Alf Baxendale (1941-2016), keen Egyptologist, member of the Egyptology Society, trustee of the Amarna Trust; thence by descent. Accompanied by an identification display card. Accompanied by a copy of his obituary published in Horizon, The Amarna Project and Amarna Trust newsletter, Issue 18, 2017, p.21, by Barry John Kemp, CBE, FBA, Professor Emeritus of Egyptology at the University of Cambridge and directing excavations at Amarna in Egypt. Alf Baxendale (1941-2016), was a keen amateur Egyptologist, active from the 1960s. He was a good friend of Egyptologist Barry John Kemp who directs excavations at Amarna in Egypt. Alf helped raise funds for equipment and materials for the excavations since the 1980s, and also secured a major sponsorship from one of Britain’s leading brewers, Scottish and Newcastle. He was a member of the Egyptology Society, and became a founder trustee of the Amarna Trust in 2005. Alf bequeathed a major part of his extensive library to the Amarna Project’s offices in Cairo. A lovely Egyptian faience bead necklace, Late Period, ca. 664 - 332 BC. It is 20 in. long and is comprised of fine faience tubular and disk beads in a nice variety of colors. A beautiful 16 mm long bi-color 3rd Intermediate period (1075 - 664 BC) faience amulet of the Wedjet (Eye of Horus) is used as a pendant. (E116)

Ca. 700-1100 ADA bronze example of an axe or Perun amulet comprising a suspension loop and a stylised axe with a notched head, and incised decorating the outward-facing surface. This type of amulet is modelled after the axe Molnia and is often seen as a counter part to the common Mjolnir amulet. New Kingdom, Ca. 1550-1069 BCA golden amulet in the shape of a tilapia fish. A cast gold amuletic bead with a suspension hole through the centre. The fish has been crafted with careful attention to detail, boasting a tiny front fin, and with all fins intricately incised to depict their texture. Further diligence has been devoted to the face of the fish, and both sides are decorated in the same manner. For another exmple of fish amulet see: Cf. New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, Ca.1353-1336 BCA beautiful Ancient Egyptian restrung necklace from the Amarna period consisting of faience beads in hues of blue beads. Turquoise and dark blue tubular beads alternate, the necklace is further enriched with a faience amulet wearing a headress, possibly that of Goddess Neith, of a later period.
