TWO LACQUER PIECES AND ONE WOOD NETSUKE Edo (1615-1868) period to Meiji (1868-1912) era, 19th-20th century Comprising a rectangular lacquer box and cover by the Zohiko company, decorated in gold takamaki-e, e-nashiji and kirikane with a wisteria and cherry tree growing from behind a chequered latticed fence, the design extending over the lid, the interior of rich nashiji, signed on the base in gold lacquer with the oval seal of the Zohiko company, 4.5cm x 9cm x 16.2cm (1¾in x 3½in x 6 3/8in); the second a gold-lacquered kushi (comb) decorated in gold takamaki-e with a cockerel perched on a fence, sheltered beneath branches of pine, a hen and four chicks on the ground, unsigned, 9.3cm (3 5/8in) long; the third a wood netsuke of a puppy lying on a circular fan, unsigned, 1.5cm x 4.5cm (9/16in x 1¾in).
