SPEED (JOHN) Cornwall, double-page engraved hand-coloured map, inset view of Launceston, Royal Arms, ships and sea-monsters, 8 coats of arms flanked by 2 allegorical figures, blank verso, laid down [Quixley 11 (1623)], J. Sudbury and G. Humble, [1623 or later] Footnotes: 1623 saw the first alterations on the face of the map, with the words 'The Irishe or Virgivian Sea' appearing below the view of Launceston and north of the western half of Cornwall, and with Latin names (copied from Kip's map of 1607) at Land's End, the mouth of the River Tamar and the Lizard. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: • • Zero rated for VAT, no VAT will be added to the Hammer Price or the Buyer's Premium.
