Blaeu, hand-coloured double-page engraved map, 8 costumed male and female figures (Arabian, Javan, Chinese, etc.) in vertical margins, 10 city views (Macao, Aden, Goa, Calcutta, etc.) and 6 portrait roundels of kings (China, Turkey, Tartary, etc.) in horizontal margins, 'Part of America' identified in upper section, verso blank, overall browning, one thin tear, old folds strengthened on verso with paper, remnants of mounting tabs, 425 x 525mm., [London, 1657] Footnotes: VERY RARE MAP OF ASIA, ENGRAVED BY ROBERT WALTON. Decorated with costume and city views in the borders, presumably influenced by the maps of John Speed, the cartography is based on the maps of Nicholas Visscher and Blaeu, with English text and nomenclature.
