A rare late 18th/early 19th century French walking-stick watch, circa 1800, the verge oblong movement with a fusee and chain, Egyptian pillars, foliate pierced bridge cock, and silvered regulation dial, the motion work driven from a fusee arbor, the white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals and brass hands, and mounted on a steel dial backplate indistinctly engraved 'Joseph (??) in ??Botr??', the lacquered stick with a gilded brass handle, silvered rotating dust ring to reveal the winding aperture and a horn cover with a glass aperture, the back plate and dial approx. 30mm diameter, the movement plates approx. 60mm long (slightly tapering) x 20mm wide x 10mm deep, (the horn cover cracked)
A Japanese ivory figure of an elderly man, carrying a lantern and a gourd on a stick over his shoulder, 19cm h, signed Kinmei, Meiji Several faint vertical cracks including two in the side of the head, unsightly adhesive residues near the feet where the figure has been re-joined to the base but this could be easily removed (Please see lot 304 for image)
An unusual Victorian carved wood walking stick, of spiralling form with a bear pursued by hounds and inscribed "Hunting is a general thing in every Countery (sic) and sum hunts for sport and some for fame some for love and some for shame some for honour and some for gain", 90cm l In overall good condition with the odd natural split which does not detract in what is probably the original amber coloured varnish.
