dating: 1861 - 1865 provenance: USA, In black cloth, with red band and silver profiling. Four-leaf clover on the top, with double captain's stripe. Metal regiment number '2' on the red band. No chin-strap. Some small hole on the back on the fabric. Officer's buttons (15 mm) with Virginia coat-of-arms and motto 'SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS' with marking on the back 'Scovill Mfg. & Co – Waterbury'. Sweat band inside with strong signs of use and time, black, fabric cap. height circa 10 cm.

A SILVER-PLATED BOUQUET BASKET, ROGERS & BRO., WATERBURY, CONNECTICUT, CIRCA 1847-1855the basket is of round form, on a round base with triangular feet. the dishes interior features four foliate medallions. the exterior features a floral scroll with two fern leaves where the handle meets the basket. the handle has one single twig with a single butterfly with a trumpet flower hangs in the center. the basket is held by a silver plated hand on four twigs with flowers mimicking a bouquet. maker’s mark rogers & bro triple plated silver stamped on base, numbered 864. overall height: 22 cm (9in.)CONDITIONThe basket is overall age appropriate.
