A 6 shot .31" Colt Model 1849 Pocket percussion revolver, numbered 217983 on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap; the cylinder numbered 17983, with traces of stage coach hold up scene and with B’ham proofs (!), the 5½” barrel of Colt type but with differently shaped lower frame, no number or markings, and B’ham proved en-suite with the cylinder, with later replacement rammer and barrel wedge. GWO & basically GC (slightly worn, the cylinder with some pitting). The barrel gives the appearance of being a contemporary replacement.Plate 33 £500-600

An Italian 6 shot 9mm Mazzocchi single action pinfire revolver, c 1860, round barrel 87mm (3½”), prominently numbered 861 on all parts, the frame with small stamp “Flli MAZZOLCHI, ROMA”, with plain unembellished finish, unusual spur trigger, bag shaped butt with chequered walnut grips, and lanyard ring. GWO & C (minor flaking to plating). Rolland & Renault listed as working in Paris 1871-72. Plate 35 £300-400.

A French 6 shot 9mm Lefaucheux Model 1860 single action pinfire revolver, number 1774, octagonal barrel 155mm (6-1/8”) engraved with vine leaves and tendrils, the top flat with etched panel inscribed “VASSELON ARQer A MARSEILLE”, the frame with “LF” mark next to the serial number, with ejector rod, spur trigger guard, varnished walnut grips, and lanyard ring. GWO & C, retaining traces of blued finish to barrel and cylinder (small patches of rust staining overall) Plate 35 £350-450.

A Belgian 6 shot 12mm Pliers single action wedge frame pinfire revolver, c 1865, round barrel with octagonal breech 162mm (6-3/8”), the breech stamped “A.PLIERS BREVETE” and engraved “BIJON S MONTE-VIDEO”, with unusual ejector rod clipped beneath the barrel, which hinges outwards and then slides in the conventional manner, Liege proved, the loading system is also most unusual, consisting of a revolving disc behind the cylinder with a single aperture which when aligned with a chamber allows the cartridge to be inserted, the frame only engraved with scrolls, with plain walnut grips and lanyard ring. GWO & C (although giving the appearance of double action, it appears to have only ever been single action) Plate 35 £350-500.

A Belgian 6 shot 12mm Comblain double action pinfire revolver, c 1865, octagonal barrel 158mm (6¼”), Liege proved, the breech, cylinder frame and trigger guard scroll engraved, the frame stamped “H.COMBLAIN BREVETE”, with chequered walnut grips and lanyard ring. A lever on the right of the frame hinges forward and upward to allow the barrel and cylinder to slide off for loading, the cylinder pin acting as the ejector. GWO & C, the barrel and cylinder with matt grey finish. Plate 35 £350-450.

A Belgian 6 shot 12mm Mariette double action pinfire revolver, c 1866, round barrel with octagonal breech and muzzle, the breech with integral rearsight and marked “MARIETTE BREVETE”, Liege proved, with a most unusual ejector system whereby the ejector rod is fixed and a knurled bolt in the lower frame releases the barrel and cylinder to slide forwards allowing for ejection (a rather clumsy operation), the cylinder, frame and trigger guard deeply engraved with panels of vine leaves and scrolls, with plain ebony grips, and lanyard ring. GWO & C with dark russet patina overall (ejector rod retaining screw missing). Plate 35 £300-400.

Ebbeke, Herzberg, c 1865, octagonal barrel 120mm (4¾”), with simple brass line inlay at the breech, and also on the cylinder, which bears “EB” maker’s stamp, the brass frame and trigger guard engraved with scrolls and vines, and at the top of the grip strap “B. EBBEKE, HERZBERG”, with ejector rod on the right, bag shaped butt, with plain ivory grips, and lanyard ring. GWO & Clean Condition, the engraving sharp. Plate 36 £300-350.

A lever beneath the barrel releases it so that it hinges downwards, allowing the cylinder to be removed for loading, the cylinder pin can then be used as an ejector, with plain one piece ebony butt. Basically GC (action requires attention, slightly worn overall, with dark rust brown finish). Appears to be devoid of any maker’s or proof marks. £200-300.

Good Working Order and Condition (the nipples and hammer rest ring slighted knocked); in its original blue velvet lined fitted mahogany case with brass lid escutcheon, containing Sykes copper powder flask, steel pincer mould (worn), turnscrew, pewter oil bottle, small cap tin (worn), bristle brush, and key to case. Very Good Working Order and Condition (professionally re-blued overall); in its original blue baize lined fitted oak case, the lid escutcheon engraved with initials, containing Hawksley flask (very good condition), Tranter marked double cavity bronze mould, wooden cleaning rod, nipple key, turnscrew, pewter oil bottle, soft leather cap bag with printed label, a modern cap tin containing grease, and the case key.
