ARR Nao Matsunaga, b1980, Untitled, 2022, acrylic, ink and pencil on paper, signed and inscribed verso, 35 x 35cm, unframedThis is the first of eleven lots which formed part of an art exhibition in September 2022 to celebrate the centenary of Summerhill School, in Suffolk. The school was founded by A.S. Neill in 1921, who was voted as one of the most important educators of the past one-thousand years, by The Times newspaper in 2000. Each of these works has been donated by a former Summerhillian spanning the period from the 1930 to the 1990's, who have gone on to have a successful career within the creative arts, something which has always been promoted by the school, right up to the present day. All the proceeds of the sale of these kindly donated lots is helping to raise money for Summerhill School, so it can continue to build on the foundations of previous successes into the the next century, whilst paying respect and giving recognition to the success of its past pupils and hopefully inspiring creativity in the future generations.
