ALIENS (1986) - David Frangioni Collection: Printer's Test Proof US One-Sheet, 1986Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. This "Ripley Style" US One-Sheet for "Aliens" (1986) was recalled from theatres by the studio because it was felt that the alien eggs might spoil the climax of the film. While the image of Ripley carrying Newt and armed with a flamethrower was used in the international One-Sheet, it was heavily cropped to stop the more curious movie-goers from asking, "Where are all the eggs coming from?" This example is scarcer because it is a printer's proof featuring a colour chart on the right. It would have been shown to the production department for approval before the final poster was printed in large quantities. Provenance: David Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer. He has worked with Aerosmith, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, and hundreds more. He is CEO of Modern Drummer Magazine and has several books published, including Clint Eastwood: Icon: The Essential Film Art Collection and Crash: The World's Greatest Drum Kits, both by Insight Editions. JAMES BOND: DR. NO (1962) - David Frangioni Collection: Special'Reward' Poster, 1962Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. An enigma for James Bond poster collectors as this'£1,000 Reward' style poster was never featured in the British press campaign book and is the first time we have offered one for auction. We believe it was a marketing piece a provincial cinema chain used to promote the first Bond movie, Dr. No, in 1962. There is no mention of actors, just the hero - James Bond 007 and the villain - Dr. No. Being rolled (as issued), it presents very well, with only scattered pin-sized staple holes in the corner areas. Having never seen another one, the scarcity of this poster cannot be underestimated. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. "Look Up! Look Down! Look Out! Here Comes the Biggest Bond of All!". An unrestored US Six-Sheet poster for Sean Connery's fourth outing as 007 in Thunderball (1965). A striking large format poster that was originally issued in four sections designed to overlap when joined together. Vibrant, strong colours and collaboration of intricate and detailed illustrations from Frank McCarthy and Robert McGinnis make for an impressive triptych Bond poster. It features three images: Bond with Jetpack, Bond underwater with speargun and Bond with'Bond Girls'. The Six-Sheet poster format is rare and printed in very limited numbers, with few examples surviving in such good original condition as offered here. JAWS (1975) - David Frangioni Collection: US Subway - Advance, No Credits - Linen-Backed, 1975Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. The late great Roger Kastel's most famous artwork is truly a sight to behold in this large US Subway format. In the run up to Jaws' blockbuster release in 1975 these posters for were printed in three different versions: an undated Advance, a dated Advance and a "Now Playing" style. The design on offer here is the undated Advance style. JAWS (1975) - David Frangioni Collection: Indian Three-Sheet - Linen-Backed, 1975Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. While the iconic artwork for Jaws by Roger Kastel is terrifying in its own right, this unattributed artwork for the Indian poster campaign certainly kicks it up a notch. The blood-drenched jaws of the shark below a crowd of panicking bathers shows far more gore than perhaps the censors in other countries were willing to allow. Due to the thinness of the paper used for most Indian posters, many don't survive long after being on display, making them true collector pieces. ANIMAL HOUSE (1978) - David Frangioni Collection: Soundtrack Poster, 1978Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. A highly scarce soundtrack movie poster for John Landis' 1978 college campus comedy Animal House, the first film National Lampoon produced. The simple design shows an image of the ruckus trouble-making fraternity flipping off at the camera with the title artwork and the text "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on MCA Records" printed underneath. These posters were sent to record store chains to be displayed to promote the album. Due to the gesture being made by the cast, many of the stores rejected the poster, resulting in the majority being destroyed. Provenance: David Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer. He has worked with Aerosmith, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, and hundreds more. THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK (1997) - David Frangioni Collection: Special 3D Lenticular, 1997Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Universal Studios issued a rare 3D lenticular poster to select theatres to promote Steven Spielberg's sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). A very expensive marketing exercise at the time meant these lenticulars were produced in very limited numbers. They are designed to have a three-dimensional look, so a different image is seen depending on the angle you are looking at the poster. In this case, it is either the film's title artwork with the tagline "Something Has Survived" or a spectacular effect of a T-Rex head bursting through the poster. Provenance: David Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer. He has worked with Aerosmith, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, and hundreds more. PLANET OF THE APES (1968) - David Frangioni Collection: UK Quad - Linen-Backed, 1968Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. The British UK Quad for Arthur P. Jacobs' Planet of the Apes is widely considered the best design for the title. It features four character panels - Charlton Heston (Taylor), Buck Kartalian (Julius), Linda Harrison (Nova) and Maurice Evans (Dr. Zaius) - offset against an outer space background. Hugely influential, this was the first movie of four sequels and has inspired a TV show, remake, comic book series and even a The Simpsons episode. Presented linen-backed with fold lines flattened out. Provenance: David Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer. PSYCHO (1960) - David Frangioni Collection: US 40" x 60" Poster - Linen-Backed, 1971Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. "It Is Required That You See Psycho From The Very Beginning!". This special US 40 x 60 poster went into production to warn audiences to watch the movie from the beginning and that entry into the cinema after the start time was forbidden. And if the text doesn't get the message across, then you can't miss the great image of the director himself pointing at his watch. It is considered the definitive Hitchcock picture and introduced audiences to new dimensions of psychotic mayhem and left an indelible mark on the horror (slasher) genre. Any paper from this movie is highly desirable, and this example is incredibly rare and presents conservation linen-backed. Provenance: David Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer. He has worked with Aerosmith, Shakira, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, and hundreds more. 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) - David Frangioni Collection: US One-Sheet,'Centrifuge' Style C, 1968Bidding for this lot will end on Thursday 8th February. The auction will begin at 2:00PM GMT and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. As the artist commissioned by the US space agency NASA to document the space program's achievements, Robert T. (Bob) McCall was the logical choice for Stanley Kubrick to spearhead the cinema poster marketing campaign for 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). McCall's designs for the film have become legendary, with this "Centrifuge" Style C by far the rarest. The Style C was only used in US cinemas, presenting the movie in the Cinerama aspect (much like today's IMAX). Since only a very small number of venues offered Cinerama, these posters were distributed in extremely limited quantities. McCall's use of scale and perspective is particularly noteworthy with this style. A rare poster for a significant film. Provenance: David Frangioni is a published author, music businessman, producer, technologist, engineer, philanthropist, and drummer.
