Rare and unique piece of television / music memorabilia. In 1986, 27 years after the first release of the song, alternative comedy group The Young Ones approached Cliff Richard to record a comic version of "Living Doll" for the Comic Relief charity. Despite the apparent contrast between the anarchic comedians and the clean cut Richard, he agreed and their version again topped the UK Singles Chart, for three weeks from March 1986. The single was certified gold in the UK by the BPI in April 1986. Shadows guitarist Hank Marvin was reunited with Richard on this recording for the first time since 1975. Beatles John Lennon signed 1963 Alkali News newspaper, an in-house magazine for chemical giant ICI. John Lennon was notorious for being the joker in The Beatles and has signed himself and also has signed the names of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, with press article from the Daily Mail relating to Lennon forging the other Beatles autograph. Signed 'All the best from the Beatles' followed by the signatures, it is said that his attempt to copy the impressions of George and Ringo were rather good but his attempt at Paul's raised suspicions as it resembles nothing like the bassists autograph. Amazingly, due to the rarity of such a piece of memorabilia, the fact that they were faked by Lennon meant that they are still highly collectable. The photograph on the newspaper was taken in July 1963, before the band became music royalty. This was early on in the career of the band which is evidenced by the fact they were the VIPs at the crowning ceremony for the Northwich Carnival Queen, the daughter of an ICI employee. It was taken by photographer Les Goode and featured in Alkali News - an in-house magazine for chemical company ICI. He sent it off to the Beatles to be autographed, but John Lennon signed it on behalf of all four band members. Mr Goode had worked with the Beatles before and had known them for a while. Has copy of press articles, a 1963 typed letter to Mr Goode from NEMS Enterprises Ltd, regarding the photograph and some unsigned b/w photographs. Good Condition. All signed pieces come with a Certificate of Authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide. UK postage from £3.99, EU from £5.99, Rest of World from £7.99.
