THEATRE, AIDA. – B.J. SIMMONS & CO (Studio). A collection of 87 original watercolours and pencil sketches, all costume designs for various performances of ‘Aida’. [circa 1910-1930.] (317 x 255mm. or smaller.) Contained within two card portfolios, titled on the upper cover ‘Aida (Opera)’. Note: Each design is annotated with the name of the character and sometimes the name of the performer, most notably two designs for Giovanni Martinelli as Radames, a design for Marcel Journet as Ramfis, a design for Vanni Marcoux as Ramfis and two designs for Paul Frantz as Radames.
A Georgian mahogany wheel barometer, 19th century & later. Broken swan-neck pediment, with silvered dry/damp dial below, over alcohol thermometer, with silvered scale, and convex mirror below. The later 8" silvered dial, with silvered spirit level dial to the base, engraved 'A Martinelli 18 Barrett St Lambeth'. 96cm long.

A George III mahogany stick barometer, with broken pediment over rectangular silvered scale calibrated in inches, with vernier and alcohol farenheit thermometer, signed 'P. Martinelli, London', the trunk with exposed tube within chevron borders and caddy moulded angles, the base with domed cistern cover, 96cm high.
