An Italian maiolica two-handled ovoid jar probably Montelupo, circa 1460-80, painted with alternating bands of curved blue stripes divided by manganese dashes, divided by yellow bands, the strap handles with blue stripes; together with a Montelupo maiolica bowl, circa 1480-90, painted with scattered blue foliage against a manganese trellis-pattern ground, 19.5cm., 7.75in. one handle of jar restuck and typical glaze losses and minor damage, the bowl in seven restuck fragments with one section missing, (2)

A fine Castelli maiolica plate early 18th century, painted in the workshop of Carlo Antonio Grue in enamels embellished with gilding with a scene depicting Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22:1-19), with Isaac kneeling before the lamb on the altar, enclosed by putti holding flowers and two masks within cartouches flanked by flowers, 19.3cm., 7.5625in. Two similarly decorated plates, attributed to Carlo Antonio Grue, are published by L. Moccia, Le antiche maioliche di Castelli d'Abruzzo, exhibition catalogue, Rome, Palazzo Venezia, December 1968 to February 1969, nos.69 and 72.

A late 19th Century Wedgwood maiolica cheese dish and cover, the exterior of the cylindrical cover moulded in relief with primroses and with rustic pattern handle, the circular brown glazed base of basket pattern, 10ins diameter x 8.25ins high (base broken in three pieces and with old riveted repairs and with indistinct impressed mark "Wedgwood", cover with painted pattern No. M 1744). An Italian Maiolica Wet Drug Jar, probably Sicily, 16th/17th century, globular, raised on a pedestal foot, the chimney-form neck applied with a broad strap handle opposite a slightly curved spout, the body decorated in Venetian style with green and yellow foliate scrolls in a blue ground, unmarked, {22.8cm} (chip and hairline in handle).
