Jessica Bird Escargot and Eau de Parfum, 2022 Charcoal, Chalk and Oil Pastel, Crayon and Acrylic Paint on Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) About Jessica Bird is an award-winning Scottish artist and fashion illustrator based in London. Jessica worked in the fashion industry before becoming a full time artist in 2018. Now primarily working as a fashion illustrator Bird's work often focusses on the moving body and capturing its brief moments of stillness. Bird has worked with a range of clients such as MatchesFashion, Harrods, ELLE and SkinCeuticals - often working live backstage at fashion shows and events. She has a talent at capturing the pace of the people and objects she draws, ensuring everything is alive through her spontaneous, improvised strokes. Working with highly pigmented paint, brightly coloured chalk pastel and willow charcoal Jessica's intuitive hand is guided by her medium, the environment of her subjects and colour. Education Gray's School of Art - Aberdeen - BA Fashion Design Select Exhibitions/Awards Winner - Fashion Illustration and Drawing Awards 2020 Solo Exhibition - Bermonds Locke, London, 2022 Solo Exhibition - Hoxton Hotel Holborn, London, 2019 Group Exhibition - Gallery48, Dundee, 2017 Gallery Representation Fashion Illustration Gallery (small selection of work) Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork My recent evolution into still life has allowed me to combine my love of beautiful objects with storytelling through symbolism. With my background in fashion the artworks are often inspired by fashion campaigns, editorial imagery or stories i've heard. The objects have a narrative that flows not only between them but also hopefully out into the spaces they inhabit. Mahjong and Mollusc for example is inspired by recent Loewe campaigns and Miu Miu imagery inspired my piece Escargot and Eau De Parfum. Message from Art On A Postcard: Please do not bid if you intend to sell on the artwork. All artworks have been generously donated by the artists to raise money for The Hepatitis C Trust and when work is sold on the secondary market, it damages our relationship with the artist and prevents us from fundraising
