Raich Carter - presentation 35mm cine film in black/amber painted Kodak reel tin with manuscript details to the lid "Cup Tie Souvenir Films/1948-1949/Hull City v Manchester United and Grimsby Town/Presented to 'Raich' Carter at The Savoy Picture Theatre Hull, on August 31st 1950 by Brinley Evans Esq. Managing Director", tin D27cm. Auctioneer's Note: 1948/9 was the season Hull City gained promotion from the Third Division North to the Second Division. They played Grimsby Town (then in the Second Division) in the fourth round of the F.A. Cup on 29th January 1949 beating them 3-2 in Grimsby, progressing to the sixth round where they played Manchester United (First Division) at home on 26th February losing to a single goal scored by Pearson and Boothferry Park had a record attendance on that day. Provenance: By direct descent from the family of Raich Carter having been consigned by his daughter Jane Carter.Condition Report:Viewing condition unknown but the film appears to be in good condition without any signs of deterioration.
