Ness and Wallace wore watches throughout the film, and Malone carried his watch in his cardigan pocket. Ness' watch is a facsimile Bulova, Wallace's a facsimile Tradition, and Malone's is an unknown make with a sealed back panel. All show wear from production use, age and storage. They have adhesive and Velcro remains from display in Planet Hollywood, and show scuffing, scratches and minor discolouration. Eliot Ness' (Kevin Costner) first attempted liquor raid failed - finding only umbrellas - and his humiliation made headline news. Ness read the paper when he first met Jim Malone (Sean Connery).The green painted wooden umbrella is fixed shut with a blue band circling the rib tips. The newspaper features a photo of Ness holding an umbrella. Both show wear from age and use. The umbrella has a slightly sticky sheen and the handle is covered in green foil. The newspaper shows discoloration. Both were held in a display and have remnants of sticky pads, and the newspaper has holes where it was pinned.
