JIM MALONE (born 1946); a stoneware jar and cover, incised with fish motifs, green ash glaze, impressed JM mark, height 29cm. Provenance: Purchased from The Collection Gallery, Ledbury, 1982. CONDITION REPORT: Hairline crack extending more than half way down the pot, otherwise appears good with no other obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.
JIM MALONE (born 1946); a 'bashed' stoneware bottle, green ash glaze, impressed JM mark, height 22.5cm. Provenance: Purchased from Bolton Museum, 1981. Alex McErlain writes: 'My first encounter with the Firths was at an exhibition at Bolton Museum and Art Gallery. The show featured work by Jim Malone amongst others and I was keen to acquire a particular item that had caught my eye - a 'bashed' bottle. Unfortunately for me Pat was in the queue ahead of me and bought the pot before I had the chance. We often laughed about this competitive first encounter'. CONDITION REPORT: Appears good with no obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.
