A scarce ‘The Teddy The Manager’ battery powered tinplate toy, retailed by Cragston (S&E), teddy figure seated at a tinplate desk, figure wearing dark green velvet jacket, black plush head with tinplate eyes and mouth, telephone in left hand and pencil in right, desk with silver finish and litho detailing, mounted on a dark green tinplate base. Wire to another larger telephone for child to use, action bell rings telephone lights up, picks up receiver, hear him talk. Boxed, minor wear for age, toy VGC minor wear. A patinated bronze figure entitled 'Jacquard', cast from a model by Jean Baptiste Germain circa 1900, the gentleman in standing pose wearing three-quarter length jacket and breeches holding the tools of his trade, on square base signed to rear left-hand corner, 56cm high. Joseph Jacquard was born in Lyon 1752 in 1801 he invented the automatic loom operated by binary punch cards. This bronze was probably cast to commemorate the centenary of his invention. The punch card system was later to inspire Babbage whilst working on his first computer.
The colours worn by Willie Carson and the two front racing plates worn by Troy in the 200th running of the Derby Stakes, 1979, the jacket & cap in the colours of Sir Michael Sobell & the pair of plates mounted in a frame under glass together with a photograph of Troy signed by his trainer Major 'Dick' Hern, 119 by 79cm., 47 by 31in.; sold with a signed letter of provenance from the present vendor (2)

A late 17th century/early 18th century French oval mounted ivory patch box, with a pique-work cover and base and a stand away hinge, opening to reveal the symbolic miniature portrait of a seductive lady with a bow and arrow, two doves in attendance, a flowing gown and ships in the distance, the cover hinging open further to reveal the portrait of yet another seductive young lady at her toilette and the portrait of a young gentleman in a powdered wig with an unbuttoned jacket, (on paper behind glass), no apparent makers' mark, struck with charge and discharge marks, apparently for Paris 1684, probably dating from 1700-1720.
