Colourful painting featuring well known artwork by the French neo-impressionist painter Paul Signac (1863-1935) in his Pointillist style depicting the harbour port of St Tropez with sailing boats at sea in the foreground and the picturesque houses and buildings of St Tropez visible in the background, a pier with wooden casks on it in the foreground and the text below in stylised white and yellow letters. 14k multicolor gold and agate Faberge hinged box, circa 1899 Moscow. Of rectangular form, the body carved from agate and accented in multicolor gold. The top of the box with two yellow gold thistles and leaves surrounded by yellow gold frame. The bottom edge of the of the lid banded with alternating white gold five petal flowers and yellow gold leaves. The base of the box with a similar yellow gold frame with eight rose gold thistles with yellow gold leaves around the perimeter.Hallmarked on the lip of the base and along one of the thistle leaves at the back. Marked KF (in Cyrillic), 56 Zlotniks gold mark, and Moscow city mark of a rider & horse with scratched inventory number 15136.Provenance: Purchased by prominent Cleveland lawyer and art collector, Frank Hadley Ginn (1868-1938) for his wife, Cornelia Root Ginn, thence by descent to current owner.Hadley Ginn was prominent Ohio lawyer, art collector and philanthropist. Hadley Ginn was a patron of the Cleveland Orchestra, Severance Hall, the Northern Ohio Opera Association, and the Cleveland String Quartet. He amassed a notable collection of fine Impressionist art at his home, Moxahela, through his connections with the influential art dealer, Paul Durand-Ruel.Length: 2 in x width: 1 1/2 in x height: 1 in. Während seines Aufenthaltes in Bordighera arbeitete er weiterhin mit deutschen Verlagen zusammen, insbesondere mit den Zeitschriften „Gartenlaube“ und „Über Land und Meer“. In Bordighera blieb er als Landschaftsmaler tätig. Nestel war mit der Gruppe von dort ansässigen Intellektuellen und Künstlern befreundet, wie Pompeo Mariani, Giuseppe Ferdinando Piana, Clarence Bicknell und Friederich von Kleudgen.Seine Werke befinden sich u. a. im Istituto Internazionale di Studi Liguri.
Albert Feser, umfangreicher Künstlernachlass von 135 impressionistischen Ölgemälden Albert Feser, 1901 Öjendorf - 1993 Hamburg-Othmarschen, Stillleben (90x), Interieur, Landschaften, Häuseransichten und Atelieransichten, 135 Ölgemälde, auf Platte und Karton, alle signiert, teils datiert und bezeichnet, Größen von 28 x 44 cm bis 70 x 50 cm, alle Gemälde verso mit Nachlassstempel, alle unter P.p.Zum Künstler: deutscher Impressionist und Kunsterzieher. Bekanntheit erlangte er insbesondere für seine Freilichtmalerei. 1919-24 besuchte er das Hamburger Lehrerseminar. Ab 1921 belegte er Abendkurse über Landschaftsmalerei bei Arthur Siebelist. 1923-24 studierte er Kunstgeschichte bei Erwin Panofsky und Fritz Saxl an der Universität Hamburg. Er war u.a. Schüler bei dem Hamburger Künstler Henning Edens. Ab 1937 nahm er an zahlreichen Ausstellungen teil und schloss sich ab 1949 dem "Kleinen Hamburger Künstlerring" an. Viele seiner Werke zeigen Landschaften, die zum Teil auch auf seinen Studienreisen durch Europa entstanden. Daneben gibt es Stadtansichten, Stillleben und Porträts. Sein Frühwerk wurde 1943 zerstört. Werke sind u.a. in der Hamburger Kunsthalle sowie in den Kunstvereinen Hamburg und Düsseldorf zu finden.

Wu had painted various aspects of China, including much of its architecture, plants, animals, people, as well as many of its landscapes and waterscapes in a style reminiscent of the impressionist painters of the early 1900s.
