Capece Minutolo Antonio. Dublino [i. e. Lucca]: nel mese d'Ottobre del 1821. 8° (205x128 mm). [4], 216 pages. Leaves slightly browned; a few foxing and spots; sporadic small ink stains. Contemporary half-calf moucheté, marbled covers. smooth spine, comtartments undelined by gilt friezes, and decorated with floral tools; title on green leather lettering piece. Multicoloured edges. Covers abraded in places. Lower joint a bit cracked, minor loss to the extremities. Second and enlarged edition of the most famous work by the Neapolitan Antonio Capece Prince of Canosa (1768-1838). I Piffari di montagna first apperead in May 1820 in the Tuscan city, likewise with the indication of 'Dublin' as fictional place of printing, while the author's identity is masked under the name of 'Giuseppe Torelli'. The content is strongly reactionary: the monarchy is presented here as the perfect form of governement, and the author attributes to the Church an essential role in mantaining the social order. This second edition is supplemented, as an appendix, with two other writings by Capece, the Analisi sopra un articolo della Minerva Napoletana, and the Risposta al n.° CXLIV. del Giornale Napoletano intitolato l'Amico della Costituzione de 2. gennajo del corrente anno.In-8° (mm 205x128). Pagine [4], 216. Carte leggermente brunite; qualche fioritura, e aloni; sporadiche e minime macchie di inchiostro. Legatura coeva in mezzo vitello moucheté, piatti ricoperti in carta marmorizzata.
