A DIAMOND STAR BROOCH, the principal old-cut diamond bordered by graduated old, single and rose-cut diamond set rays, two colour precious metal mounted, with later brooch fitting, principal diamond weight approximately 0.12ct, length 2.9cm Condition report: Diamonds are generally well matched, bright and lively, some stones with small chips/nicks and surface-reaching fractures, estimated VS1 to P1 clarity and H to K colour, assessed mounted. Total weight of old and single-cut stones approx. 0.30ct. The mount has general surface wear, with fine seams/areas of pitting to the sides, patchy tarnishing and some wear/thinning to the edges of the settings and grains. There is a small drill hole to the reverse tip of one ray, and solder joins to the back of the panel. The brooch pin is later replaced and functioning. There is a small jump ring fitting to the reverse of another ray which may also be later added. Metal is untested but possibly gold and silver combined. Gross weight approx. 4gm.
A LATE VICTORIAN MOONSTONE AND DIAMOND DOUBLE HEART BROOCH, modelled as two entwined heart-shaped clusters, each centred with a heart-shaped cabochon moonstone bordered by rose-cut diamonds, surmounted by a similarly cut diamond set ribbon bow, gold and silver mounted, (two white stones later replaced), width 2.4cm Condition report: Moonstones are well matched, of greyish-white hues with a subtle bluish schiller, with multiple scuffs, nicks and small chips to the surface. Each measures approx. 10mm length x 9mm width x 5.7 – 6.2mm depth. Diamonds have variable colour and clarity, with an overall greyish appearance, some stones with chips and fractures. Two white stones to the left-sided heart are later replaced. The mount has considerable wear, chips, nicks and scuffs with thinning to the edges of the settings and panel. The brooch pin is functioning but may be later replaced. There is a drill hole/pit to the top of the ribbon bow. Gross weight approx. 7gm.

It combines a dental drill, lights, self-flushing spittoon and other dental equipment. Made by the Dental Manufacturing Co. Ltd.In July 1948, the NHS was opened by health minister Aneurin Bevan, making dental treatment available to the whole population, free of charge, for the first time. This sudden expansion of treatment meant that, at first, there was a shortage of specialist dental equipment. Clarke RN HMS Fearless); GSM 1 clasp Northern Ireland (Lt Cdr D R Clarke RN) GVF, mounted as worn. Accompanying these are the following items from the recipient’s personal archive from the Falklands conflict where he was the Command Planning and Naval Intelligence Officer. Operation and Intelligence hand written shorthand type daily briefing notebook giving movement details of various Argentine vessels, e.g. “14th Apr. Santa Fe (Guppy) suggested as patrolling Arg. exclusion zone or on its way to UK exclusion zone... Santissima Trinidad thought to be type 42 sailed P. Belgrano, Hercules also poss at sea”, 15th April “Irizar prob dep Comodoro Rivaderia may be taking more equipment to Falks.”, “Arg. submarines 3 at sea, San Luis patrolling area N/NE of Falks. Salta shallow water in vic of MEZ, Sante Fe unloc. thought to be further away, unlikely to have travelled towards Asc, nevertheless possible” undated April “after Sante Fe hit directive signalled to SNs San Luis & Sante Fe, pos. means only other sub deployed is San Luis posn unknown, S.Tr (Santissima Trinidad) prob close inshore approx 40nm south of P. She surrendered to the Royal Navy in June 1982 and was commandeered by a crew of 13 from HMS Fearless in June 1982. From that date until 2nd July she operated in and around Port Stanley and Port William flying the white ensign, Lt Clarke being on board until 22nd June; many black and white and other photographs are present including 2 showing an Argentine pilot shot down and recovered aboard HMS Fearless with Michael Rose; a number of San Carlos Anniversary dinner menu invitations, memorial programmes, cuttings, and other books and ephemera including “Falklands 82 HMS Fearless at war, 100 days in the life of an Assault Ship” 44 page booklet listing crew, etc. including Lt Clarke in the Diving Section; a selection of Cdr Clarke’s uniform, an Argentine soldier’s helmet; and an Argentinian Naval greatcoat adapted for use by Cdr Clarke along with many other mementos including personal letters from senior officers and others and later senior briefings.
