A mid 19th Century doll’s trousseau, including a cream cotton dress with red, blue and brown pattern with low squared neck, pleated bodice and cape sleeves – 4¾in (12cm) wide at waist and 17in (43cm) high; a similar dark blue dress with short fitted sleeves; a white dress with lace trim; a pair of ice skates, one handed pony skin muff; a paper covered trunk, red with black spots sun bonnet; a check cape; a red and a blue gingham play overall; other outfits, some homemade; a quantity of underclothes including a laced bodice, many with AM monogram; a black satin coat with pointed bell sleeve (damage); with a doll’s stuffed body with the remains of a damaged late 19th century bisque head and lower limbs – 19in (48.5cm) approx from shoulder to feet; and a large handkerchief case monogrammed AM. Provenance: The Doll was given to the vendor by a maternal Aunt (Hilda Taynton Evans, nee Hiley 1890-1973), but the doll probably belonged originally to the mother of the Aunt, Edith Anne Morgan (later Hiley) 1851-194.
