GEORGE VI & QUEEN ELIZABETH: GEORGE VI: (1895-1952) King of the United Kingdom 1936-52 & ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER: (1900-2002) Queen consort of the United Kingdom 1936-52 as the wife of King George VI. A very fine vintage signed 5.5 x 8 photograph by both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth individually, the image depicting the King and Queen standing together in full-length poses within Buckingham Palace, accompanied by their young daughters the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, and Dookie, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Photograph by Marcus Adams and signed by him in pencil and dated 1939 in his hand. Signed ('George R. I.') by King George VI and signed ('Elizabeth R') by Queen Elizabeth, each in bold fountain pen inks to the lower photographer's mount and dated 1939 in the King's hand. Attractively presented in a brown leather folding frame made by the bookbinders Sangorski & Sutcliffe of London, a card with a printed Christmas and New Year greeting displayed opposite the signed photograph. Some very light, extremely minor age wear, VGThe present image was captured by British society photographer Marcus Adams (1875-1959) in December 1938.The Welsh Corgi Dookie was especially popular with Princess Elizabeth and became a loved member of the Royal Family.
