Der Herausgeber Charles Peignot (1897-1983) begründete die aufwändig gestaltete Kunstzeitschrift als Leiter der Schriftgiesserei Deberny et Peignot - eine der bedeutendsten französischen Firmen auf diesem Gebiet - was die ausserordentliche Druckqualität erklärt, die insbesondere bei den Abbildungen der Photographie-Sondernummern ins Auge fällt und sicher ein Grund dafür war, dass die internationale Avantgarde-Elite von Herbert Bayer, Henri Cartier-Bresson und André Kertesz über Man Ray, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Edward Steichen bis hin zu Albert Renger-Patzsch, UMBO u. v. m. gern daran mitwirkte. Hierzu besonders hervorzuheben ist die Sonderausgabe zur Photographie (Nr. 16), die mit über 130 zeitgenossische Photographien die Bandbreite üer damaligen Photokunst widerspiegelt. Gerade ihre Vielseitigkeit in Thematik und Gestaltung machte die AMG zu einer der herausragenden graphischen Zeitschriften vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. - Im Schnitt minimal gebräunt, insgesamt sehr sauberes und sehr gut erhaltenes Exemplar. - Mont.
