A pair of Burleigh Ware wall plaques, designed by Charlotte Rhead in the Persian pattern, no. 4013, an intricately tube-lined design of flowers and leaves in the Iznik manner, on an ivory and cream ground. Due to the cost of production, only a handful of these plaques were produced and in all likelihood, the decoration was completed by Charlotte herself. Each plaque is approximately (36cm diameter) and features a printed Burleigh stamp, together with a tube-lined L Rhead (for Lottie Rhead) signature in Charlotte's own hand and a pattern number. NB: One of the plaques has an incorrect pattern no. 4011, which was a separate Rhead pattern.
A 1920s Burleigh Ware hexagonal vase, designed by Charlotte Rhead in the Gouda pattern, no. 4001, having tube-lined stylized roses within lobed and pointed panels, painted in pink, blue, orange and puce, on a green ground, printed and tube-lined marks to the base (14cm), together with an octagonal Burleigh Ware fruit bowl, having tube-lined and painted trellis and fruit decoration, the base with printed stamp and a tube-lined Rhead signature, no pattern number (20cm diameter). Condition Report: A chip and hairline to the rim of the vase and a hairline to one edge of the bowl.
A pair of 1930s Burleigh Ware wall plaques, designed by Charlotte Rhead in the Persian pattern, no. 4013, having an elaborate and detailed foliate decoration within a repeating swirl and flower pattern border. It is believed that only around eight of these plaques were produced and they were probably decorated by Charlotte herself, given the intricate nature of the pattern and the quality of the tube-lining; each with printed and tube-lined marks verso, bearing the L. Rhead signature in Charlotte's own hand (each 36cm diameter).
A late 1920s Burleigh Ware fruit bowl, designed by Charlotte Rhead in the 4663 pattern, having an elaborate tube-lined decoration of deep blue Persian-style leaves, with flowers in orange and gilt, on a white ground, the decoration reminiscent of the earlier Arabian pattern for Bursley Limited, printed and painted marks to base (8.5cm tall, 25cm diameter).
A 1920s Burleigh Ware small wall plaque, designed by Charlotte Rhead in the Galleon pattern, no. 4118, the central reserve having a tube-lined ship on rough seas with a chequered trellis-style border, the reverse bearing the L. Rhead (Lottie Rhead) signature in Charlotte's own hand (25cm diameter).
A 1920s Burleigh Ware wall plaque, designed by Charlotte Rhead in the Bird & Pomegranate pattern, no. 4012, the intricate tube-lined design of a pheasant-like bird perched amongst fruit and leaves within a repeating border of further fruits on a cream ground. It is recorded that Charlotte Rhead created only six of these plaques, given the expense of producing them. It is likely that the decoration on this plaque was completed by Charlotte herself, printed and tube-lined marks verso (36cm diameter). Provenance: This plaque was featured in Christie's South Kensington Interiors Auction, December 2011, Lot 231.
