Highly regarded as a great fighter pilot he wasÜrespected by pilots for mostÜfamously falling out withÜGp Capt Harry Broadhurst whomÜheÜcalledÜa"bloody murderer" for sending up and throwing into the battle untrainedÜand inexperienced pilots who quickly perished. SandersÜfinished the Battle of Britain a high scoring ace with at least 16 confirmed victories,Übut his courageous outspoken attack cost him promotion and furtherÜ deserved decorations. In 1991 the collector met with Wg Cdr Sanders at his home inÜWimbledon and found him unrepentant andÜunembittered. Good condition. An 18th Century pollard oak longcase clock, Broadhurst, MacclesfieldThe stepped caddy top above a blind fret work frieze and two tapering columns flanking a twelve inch brass dial with Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute numerals, centred with a subsidiary second dial and date aperture with gilt metal openwork spandrels and an eight day movement striking on a saucer bell, the nicely figured and slender pollard oak case with a twin beaded door over a plain front board and plinth base, clock case requires some restoration, complete with pendulum and weights, height of clock 219cm.

Brass three-draw 25x terrestrial refracting telescope by Broadhurst Clarkson, 63 Farringdon Road, London E.C. 43mm objective, the leather covered tube with leather caps and shoulder strap, closed length 26cm. Condition report: good condition; no obvious lens foxing, stitching and leather sound.
STEPHENS ROBERT: (1931-1995) English Actor. Signed 10 x 8 photograph of Stephens seated in a three quarter length pose, in costume as Sherlock Holmes, with various scientific apparatus before him, in a scene from The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970). Signed by Stephens in bold black ink to the lower border. A pencil annotation to the verso in the hand of a collector indicates that the autograph was obtained in person on 17th October 1975 following a performance of Sherlock Holmes at the Broadhurst Theatre on Broadway, New York. A couple of light, very minor stains to the edges, otherwise VG
