Private collection. For the aficionados of the type, a great red with a Bordeaux imprint, here are many lots of extreme interest of the most prestigious wine of the entire Italian enological scene starting from the legendary ‘88 vintage to reach 2013, as many as 27 vintages of the famous wine of Castagneto Carducci. This great wine was introduced to the world in 1968, created by the Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta who was the first to realize that cabernet, franc and sauvignon had found their ideal natural habitat in one small section of the Tyrrhenian coast. Among the most interesting vintages of these lots, in addition to the 1988, are the ‘90, the ‘96, the ‘97 and the ‘98, which concludes the fabulous Nineties of the 20th century. The new century begins with a good 2000, less intense than the great Sassicaias, but very elegant and aristocratic, to continue with a 2001 so powerful as to recall the great vintages of the previous years. Next is the 2004, which Daniele Cernilli describes for Gambero Rosso “the Bolgheri Sassicaia ’04 is a master stroke, one of the finest ever”. The subsequent years, until 2012, yielded very regular wines, all of great quality, with exceptional vintages in 2009 and 2011, among the best ever.

Su tutte svetta l’’88, paragonabile all’indiscusso ‘85. Here is a fine mini vertical of the great Tuscan wine, one of the few in the world that can compete with the legendary Bordeaux. The least favorable of the five vintages made available in this lot is the 1989, which was an unfortunate year for the entire region, though the wines of the Tyrrhenian coast fared somewhat better. The banner vintage of the lot is the ‘88, comparable to the all-time marvel of ‘85. It is an extraordinary wine that achieved the highest scores from all the critics everywhere. The ‘96 and ‘97, are both excellent, with a slight prevalen¬ce of the latter, and the 1990 is also very fine, thanks to its organolep¬tic qualities that make it similar to the ‘88. (Tot. 5 bts) € 500
