A 1950's / 60's Strand ‘Egg’ 123 light with 6” short focus Fresnel lens, polished and wired for home use. This rare lamp sits on an even rarer 1955 Bolex Type 1 tripod - great pan / tilt head with adjustable levelling separate from other controls, plus an extremely well designed quick release head. A 1968/69 restored and polished Strand PATT 23N MK2 studio lamp converted to use standard Edison bulbs.It was originally designed in Covent Garden, London at the Strand headquarters in the 1950s. This light was used on the set of Channel 4’s ‘Draw it’ game show, hosted by Mel Gledroyc. The light sits upon a 1950’S Paillard Bolex Tripod H. This model, constructed entirely of aluminium, was introduced in 1959. The first head supplied with this tripod included a "plug-on" style platform. This version weighs approximately 8 lbs. and 6 ounces, with an extended height of 61" or 37" when retracted.
