Lot 18

The fifth generation of the BMW 7 Series consists of the BMW F01 (saloon version) and BMW F02 (long-wheelbase saloon version). The F01/F02 generation was produced from 2008 to 2015.The F01 was the first BMW vehicle to be available with a hybrid drivetrain, an eight-speed automatic transmission and a turbocharged V12 engine. It was the second 7 Series to be available with a turbocharged petrol engine (the first being the European E23 745i), and all-wheel drive (xDrive). The car's exterior was designed by Lebanese automotive designer Karim Habib. The styling retained some elements from its E65 7 Series predecessor but was a less controversial approach. The headlamps were reminiscent to the E65 but were smaller and sleeker. The car incorporated a wider and bigger kidney grille that went deeper into the front apron for a more aggressive appearance. The car was first revealed to the public in the Red Square in Moscow (Russia) on 8th  July 2008. Other launch events included the Paris Motor Show in October and the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November. This nice example of this German luxury saloon is presented in metallic grey with cream leather. It comes with the usual refinements synonymous with this marque, heated electric front seats, satellite navigation, cup holders, cruise control, privacy glass, climate control operated by the rear passengers and its had only two owners from new. It has some service history and a service having just been carried out by the present owner at a cost of circa £1000 which included an oil return pipe replacement, including a new MoT test certificate.

When the Klaus Kapitza designed 8 Series was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1989, it felt like a glimpse into the future with its angular styling. An upmarket range with superior performance and price tag to match, the 8 Series was designed to be a stand-alone premium model although seen to be the successor to the 6 Series. The 8 Series was offered in 830i, 840Ci and 850i/Ci form and, when introduced in mid-1993, it was fitted with a four litre, V8 engine mated to either a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. Producing a very healthy 282bhp, this version could achieve the 0-62mph sprint in an impressive 6.9 seconds; importantly with the naturally aspirated V8, acceleration was effortless and refined. Over $1 billion dollars are said to have been spent on the car's design with CAD design and wind tunnel technology. From mid-1995, production phased in the newer 4.4 litre M62B44 engine, which had better fuel economy and more torque, though power output remained unchanged.Originally supplied by the BMW main dealer on the 14th June 1996 this 1996 BMW 840ci is in the stable of BMWs that our vendor has collected over the past decade and interestingly all in the same colour. Presented in Maroon with Grey leather this example has just five former keepers and boasts a comprehensive history file. Owned by our vendor since 2018 the car has remained garaged and cared for. The paintwork in in very good order and inside boasts the original Nokia mobile phone and cradle that befitted these executive coupés. Treated to a recent MoT test certificate these BMW 8 series are becoming a more appreciated modern classic and this example no exception. What better way to enjoy driving than in this pillarless coupé.Guide Price £8,000 - £12,000

Launched in 1998, the Arnage was manufactured in Crewe from 1998 to 2009 with its Rolls-Royce sibling, the Silver Seraph, introduced in the Spring of 1998. They were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980 when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models were introduced. The new Arnage (Green Label) was to be powered by a BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered, twin-turbo chargers and the Seraph was to employ a BMW V12 engine. The Arnage Red Label was launched in October 1999 with the engine reverting back to Bentley power using the traditional V8 engine and a displacement of 6750cc. As part of the modification process, both Red and Green Label cars benefitted from expanded leg room in the cabin, stiffer bodyshells and larger wheels and brakes. This lovely 2000 Bentley Arnage, fitted with 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce engine, was supplied new to a high specification, finished in Peacock Blue with white pin stripping with cream, piped in blue leather interior complemented with walnut wood door cappings and picnic tables to the rear compartment. This Bentley was also supplied with cream instrument dials, dark blue lambs wool over rugs and is fitted with split rim alloy wheels. The car has covered 61,000 miles from new with a good service history, first with Bentley Parks of Hamilton then with marque specialists, Silver Lady Services. Supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in August 2022, the book pack containing the stamped service book and two keys with alarm fobs. These wonderful superior and luxurious classic Bentleys present such good value for money considering their original sale price.

Lot 47

When launched in 1989 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW 8 Series felt like a glimpse into the future with its angular styling. An upmarket range with superior performance and price tag to match, the 8 Series was designed to be a standalone premium model although seen to be the successor to the 6 Series. From mid-1995, production phased in the newer 4.4 litre M62B44 engine, which had better fuel economy and more torque, though power output remained unchanged. Manufactured on 12th June 1996, this beautiful BMW has been very well cared for throughout its 26 years on British roads. The car has had 13 services in that period and the modest mileage of 64,911 is warranted with comprehensive maintenance records and previous MoT test certificates. However, the current fastidious vendor appears to have taken this car to a different level. Having purchased a jolly good car on 1st September 2020, he has spent a further £16,000 during his stewardship, resulting in what must surely be one of the best 840Cis available in the country today. The work has been carried out by Automotive Solutions in Henley-on-Thames and by Sytner BMW in Maidenhead. Work includes new front and rear brake discs, rebuilt brake calipers, new rocker cover gaskets and a major service including a gearbox service. Four new Hankook tyres have recently been fitted to the unmarked alloy wheels. The red coachwork is unmarked as is the grey leather interior. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate, valid until 17th January 2023 and a comprehensive history folder, together with an original spare key. Prices have been increasing of late for these handsome iconic cars of the 90s. Viewing is highly recommended to appreciate the quality of this stunning example.

Lot 72

The fourth generation BMW M3 was announced on the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. It was originally set to be called M4 along with 3 Series coupés and convertibles that were to become the 4 Series but, due to the interest in retaining the M3 line as well as the plan for a separate 4 series line, this change was scrapped. Like the previous M3 generations that introduced a new engine, the fourth generation M3 did the same: the BMW S65 V8 engine producing 414bhp. The E92 M3 coupé inherited a carbon-fibre roof similar to the one used on the E46 CSL. For 2011, the E92 M3 received a model refresh, changes included minor interior trim pieces and LED rear taillights. The new M3 is again available as a four-door saloon, based on the E90 3 Series saloon, but unlike the regular saloons, the M3 version shares the coupé's wide and sculpted front end, including headlights. Although the front-end design of the saloon matches the specific look and high-performance character of the coupé, the side-sills and rear diffuser are tailored for the saloon. This superb, ex Sytner Used BMW example is presented in silver with black leather interior. This lovely convertible M3 comes with air conditioning, electric heated memory front seats, CD player and satellite navigation. It has the desirable DCT Automatic seven speed gearbox with paddle shift and is fitted with a Scorpion rear exhaust box and the car body has had a ceramic coating applied. The present owner has just had the car serviced on 24th/25th February,  in accordance to the service book. The car also comes with a new MoT test certificate and a full BMW service history up to and including 2018 and thereafter specialists according to the service indicator. Also, the vendor informs us that it comes with a Motoreasy Plan C (2 year) warranty which is valid until August 1st this year and has not been used to date!  This is one of the best examples of this model we have seen and €œwants for nothing€ as they say!

Lot 97

The BMW E30 3-series was first introduced in 1982, with the BMW built convertible version joining the line-up in 1988.  Unlike the bulky Baur roll cage E30 convertibles that preceded it, the BMW factory-built convertibles used a strengthened windscreen to provide a cleaner and more attractive design and distinctive roof down profile.  E30 convertibles manufactured between 1988 and early 1990 are considered the models to own as they were produced after the last major design update (1987 - often called Series 2) and before the final minor revision in late 1990 that moved away from chrome to colour coded bumpers and introduced a less desirable taillight configuration. BMW E30 3 series had a large variety of inline four and six-cylinder engine options.  The 325i was the most desirable of the mainstream production six-cylinder engine option, producing a distinctive and smooth purr.  The E30 is considered one of the car design icons of the 1980s.Originally supplied by Cooper St. James in London and registered on 24th May 1988, this car changed hands to the second owner and current vendor on 14th December 1989. The time warp condition of this 325i really does need to be seen to be appreciated. The Malachite Green paintwork is unmarked and totally original as is the natural leather. The hood is original and the only slight blemish is a light milkiness on the plastic rear window. The fastidious vendor has ensured whenever the hood was folded down, it was done correctly and patiently, hence there are no creases or marks. The 2494cc engine fired up immediately when requested and sounded delightful. We are advised by the vendor that she drives with no known faults. The original condition, together with the exceedingly low mileage of 22,429 and the impeccable service history make this a very desirable car. Supplied with a V5C registration document, together with a current MoT test certificate and the original service books. There can be very few BMW 325i convertibles that could compete with this superb example.

The Range Rover is a large luxury four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle launched in 1970 and is now in its fourth generation. In 1967, the first Range Rover prototype was built with the classic Range Rover shape clearly discernible although with a different front grille and headlight configuration. The design of the Range Rover was eventually finalised and signed off in 1969. Some 25 years after the introduction of the Range Rover, the second-generation Range Rover model designation P38A was introduced for the 1995 model year with an updated version of the Rover V8 engines. There was also the option of a 2.5 litre BMW six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This was a result of BMW's subsequent ownership of Rover Group and hence the Land Rover brand. The new model offered more equipment and premium trims and was positioned above the Land Rover Discovery to face the increased competition in the SUV marketplace. This model was the last to feature the Rover V8 engine and interior leather supplied by Connolly who sadly went out of business in 2002.Manufactured on 28th July 1994 and originally registered on 1st August this pre-production Range Rover has recently been restored to concours condition. This 4.0 SE was used as part of the original press launch at Cliveden and still bears the original registration number of M247 CVC. The bodywork was restored by Eric Tenney of Bodycraft, the Biarritz Blue paintwork finish is excellent. The manual gearbox and transfer case were overhauled by Hardy Engineering and the engine was rebuilt by SRS Engineering. The heating and air conditioning systems were restored and operate efficiently. The air suspension has also been totally overhauled and functions exactly as it should. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate valid until 14th September 2022. A comprehensive file with invoice for all the work carried out is present as is a Heritage Certificate. This P38 Range Rover represents a significant piece of British motoring history and appears to be attractively estimated given the pre-production status and remarkable condition.

Full title: Patricia Urquiola (1961): 'Bend' sofa for B&B Italia, 2010Description: H 69 -L 323 - D 170 cm (dimensions based on the current set-up) With matching neck support and pillows.Ê Ê The 'Bend' Sofa is a modular sofa with a great personality. It seems to have been moulded by an artist's hand, but actually originates from the study of 3D models and digital research. Its irregular shape enhances comfort. The very name 'Bend' Sofa effectively expresses the idea of __movement obtained by the alternation of solids and voids, underlined by the contrasting stitching that gives rise to a further design on its irregular and sinuous surface. The corrugated modules, assembled starting from seat, ottoman and corner elements, develop a large number of configurations, from linear versions in compact dimensions to large compositions, as well as original and alternative solutions that stand outside traditional canons.Ê Ê Originally from Oviedo, Spain, Patricia Urquiola studied architecture and design at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid and completed her studies at the Politecnico di Milano where she graduated under the mentorship of Achille Castiglioni. Her career highlights include: assistant lecturer to Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli in Milan and Paris, responsible for the new product development office of De Padova, working with Vico Magistretti, head of Lissoni Associati's design group…Patricia Urquiola starts each project by building an empathic connection with the user that will eventually interact with her designs, something she learned from Achille Castiglioni, establishing the “fundamental element” as he used to call, the basis of each project which always keeps her on track and accompanies her whole design process: thinking spaces or objects in relation to people. Pushing the limits of research and technology, Patricia Urquiola constantly experiments and dares to move towards better design and architecture, following her earlier mentors' teachings such as Vico Magistretti and Maddalena de Padova. Used to confront complex processes, working with scales from micro to macro, she works with the available technology to go beyond the limits of what has been already experimented.Ê Studio Urquiola is frequently asked to design not only objects and architectures but also to think about the future of mobility, workplace and production cycles. Creating links between craftsmanship and industrial research, the heritage together with innovation and technology, Patricia Urquiola also drives companies she works with to upcycle once-waste material and tries to re-image entire processes leading them to change, evolution and innovation.Patricia Urquiola believes in an original design point of view merging humanistic, technological and social approaches. Her design thinking is the intersection of challenges and breaking prejudices, finding unexpected connections between the familiar and the unexplored.Ê Patricia Urquiola has been the Creative Director of Cassina since 2015 and works with important Italian and international design companies, including Agape, Alessi, Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Baccarat, Boffi, Budri, De Padova, Driade, Coedition, Ferragamo, Flos, Gan, Georg Jensen, Glas Italia, Haworth, Kartell, Kettal, Kvadrat, Listone Giordano, Louis Vuitton, Molteni, Moroso, Mutina, Rosenthal and Verywood… Amongst her latest projects in architecture are Il Sereno Hotel in Como, the Room Mate Giulia Hotel in Milan, the SD96 yacht for Sanlorenzo, Marienturm and Marienforum towers in Frankfurt, the spa of the Four Seasons Hotel Milan, The Jewellery Museum in Vicenza, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona, Das Stue Hotel in Berlin; showrooms and installations for Gianvito Rossi, BMW, Cassina, Missoni, Moroso, Molteni, Officine Panerai, H&M, Santoni and the general concept of Pitti Immagine in Florence…Ê Patricia Urquiola is part of the advisory board of the Politecnico of Milan and the Triennale Milano Museum. She taught the Master's Degree in Interior Design at the Domus Academy in Milan (2013-2015) and has given lectures at Harvard University, Michigan University, Shenkar School of Engineering and Design in Israel, at the Alvar Aalto Academy in Finland, at the State University and Bocconi University in Milan. She has also given talks at countless cultural events, such as Design Shanghai, Design Week in Istanbul, the Expressive Design conference at the Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein, Germany, the Bloomberg Design Conference in San Francisco, Festarch Perugia, the Mind Festival in Sarzana and the Mantova Literature Festival, among other events in Italy. She was an ambassador of the Milan Expo in 2015 (link available on our website).Ê Ê Interior photos by Kato PeetersÊ Ê Condition:The absence of a condition report does not imply that a lot is in perfect condition. VICENTE ARNÁS LOZANO (Madrid, 1949)."Toreros de farándula", 2012.Oil on canvas.Attached certificate of authenticity issued by the artist.Signed in the lower left corner. Signed, dated and titled on the back.Measurements: 73 x 92 cm.Vicente Arnás is a painter from Madrid who began his artistic career linked to the world of advertising. After several years of experience, in 1976, he had his first individual exhibition, which was held in the Macarrón room in Madrid. After the success of his first exhibition, he began an exhibition career that has taken him to places such as New York and different European countries. He has participated in prestigious fairs such as Arco, or Europ Art, held in Geneva. In addition, he has been awarded on numerous occasions, being medal of honour in the BMW painting prize and receiving the prize of the Real maestranza of Seville, among others. This has earned him the recognition of both the public and the critics. His painting is characterised by the recreation of dreamlike, placid worlds, where time seems to stand still. He creates worlds of realistic aesthetics, close to currents such as magical realism, or to influences such as those of the painter Arcimboldo or Bosch. For a period he was part of the group "Nueve expresiones" with whom he exhibited in several collective exhibitions.

FRANCISCO RODRÍGUEZ LOBO (Cantillana, Seville, 1965)."Asphalt I".Mixed media on wood.Signed.Measurements: 48 x 74 cm.A painter specialising in landscape, although he also tackles other themes such as still life, Francisco Rodríguez Lobo belongs to the Sevillian school of reality, and is currently considered one of its most brilliant representatives. Among the most recent is the solo exhibition held at the Haurie gallery in Seville in 2014. He has taken part in numerous competitions, winning first prize in the IV Certamen Provincial de Dibujo de Sevilla (1982), the prize at the Caja Rural Exhibition in the same city (1994) and the Medalla de Honor Premio BMW in 2011, a competition in which he had been a finalist the previous year. In dry storage sinceNow in need of restoration or possibly just recommissioningProbably one of the last unmolested CSLs to come to auction, a blank canvasVisually indistinguishable from its more 'run of the mill' relations, the CS and CSi, the 3.0 CSL (Coupé Sport Leicht) was creative homologation at its best. Success in motorsport sells cars, and the marketing department's requirements led BMW engineers to develop a limited-production 'homologation special' to meet the constrictive framework of the ‘Group 2’ racing class regulations at the time. By removing the trim and using thinner steel for the main bodyshell; aluminium alloy for the doors, bonnet and, boot lid; and Perspex for the side windows, a valuable 300lbs (136kgs) in weight was saved – 'Leicht' indeed.Mechanically, these cars were almost identical to the fuel-injected CSi (which meant 200bhp and 140mph plus) but to take it into the over-3litre class, the engines were bored out slightly to 3003cc. Equipped with all-round independent suspension (McPherson strut front/semi-trailing arm rear), disc brakes and responsive steering, it was wonderfully balanced. Very expensive when new (several hundred pounds more than a 2.7 RS 911 CSLs are now the most highly coveted BMW of the 1970s with a fabulous competition record. We understand that only 1,039 CSLs were built in total with 500 of these finished in right-hand drive for BMW UK. Offered here is number 104 (#228104) of those 500 accompanied by a letter from BMW Group, Munchen confirming that it was manufactured on 14th November 1972 and delivered to BMW Concessionaires GB Ltd. on the 17th November finished in Polaris Silver (Code 080) with a black interior. Two old V5s show that it had just two previous owners prior to its sale in January 1990 to a prominent London barrister living on the Embankment. From 2006, it has been in storage with the speedometer showing 78,142 miles and the history file contains a clutch of MOTs going back to 1986, multiple invoices from the eighties raised by Cronk Garages Ltd. of Redhill, further invoices during the early nineties from Cheyne BMW London and accounts for further work carried out by a garage close to the large Scottish family estate where the car spent much of its time in later years. Having been in storage since 2006, it now requires restoration or at best re-commissioning but presents a blank canvas as probably one of the last unmolested CSLs to come to auction. It still has its original non-sport steering wheel, which may well be unique, and is supplied with the aforementioned history file and its original handbooks. These low-production, era-defining coupés often feature as a choice in car enthusiasts' 'dream garage' scenarios, and with good reason - beautifully engineered machines with that seventies BMW magic and probably the prettiest homologation special ever conceived. This is a fantastic opportunity to awaken this dusty 'Lightweight' from sixteen years of slumber.SpecificationMake: BMWModel: CSLYear: 1973Chassis Number: 2231362285104Registration Number: TGT 90MEngine Number: 2231362285104 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images

Lot 309

A remarkable, one owner, UK-supplied, right-hand drive manual gearbox car with just 19,498 miles from new.Delivered to its current and only owner in August 1989, must be one of the last cars soldFinished in Zinnober Red with a classic 635 interior in cream leather Current MOT and impressive MOT history. Original service booklet and Bill of Sale (£46,950)In long-term storage the past few decades, so an element of recommissioning may well be requiredWith 19,498 warranted miles, this is one for the serious BMW 'M-car' collector, try and find anotherThe brainchild of BMW's Motorsport department, the M635 CSi version of the E24 6-Series arrived in 1984. Its engine was a development of the M1 supercar's 3.5-litre, 24-valve six-cylinder unit producing 286bhp, the increased power necessitating chassis improvements which included altered weight distribution, revised suspension, bigger brakes and a limited-slip differential. There was also a close-ratio five-speed gearbox (or four-speed multi-mode auto) and a more luxurious interior, while outwardly this ultimate 6-Series model was readily distinguishable by virtue of its M Technic body kit. Performance was emphatically in the supercar league, the M635 CSi being capable of reaching 62mph in around 6 seconds on its way to a top speed in excess of 155mph.Silverstone Auctions are delighted to offer to the market for the very first time since being delivered new in August 1989, this UK-supplied, right-hand drive M635 CSi which has been owned by our private vendor since new. Just 19,496 miles have been covered in that time and the combination of this low mileage, one owner and the highly desirable manual gearbox mean this special example seems to tick every box for the serious 'M-car' collector. The accompanying original Bill of Sale shows that this particular car was supplied through Cooper Bishopsgate and was specified with a graduated tinted screen and radio cassette/speakers, which was a £600 option, and the total price for the car was £46,950, a significant some of money at the time. It's finished in Zinnober Red with a cream leather interior and the delivery date of August 1989 suggest that this must be one of the very last examples UK cars delivered new.Accompanied by a current MOT valid until July 2022 and its MOT history, this M6351 CSi has hardly covered any mileage in the past couple of decades. Indeed, looking at the recent MOT records, only 525 miles have been covered since 2006 alone suggesting that the majority of the mileage was in the car's early years with a number of recent years in dry storage apart from the annual trip to the MOT Station. With this in mind, an element of recommissioning is to be expected by the next lucky owner. Also in the history file is the aforementioned Bill of Sale, original service booklet and various invoices from over the years. We encourage and welcome all interested parties coming to see the car for themselves at the sale, or to book a pre-sale appointment at our storage facility.Perhaps the word ‘unrepeatable’ is overused these days, but in all honesty we simply don’t know where you’ll find a one owner, manual gearbox, E24 M635 CSi that has covered less than 20,000 miles from new. This is one for the serious BMW 'M-car' collector – try and find another.SpecificationMake: BMWModel: M635 CSI MANUALYear: 1989Chassis Number: WBAEE320300760488Registration Number: G499 TYETransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 19498 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Simply gorgeous, 1930s Anglo-German creation and one of only 19.The result of an agreement between BMW and AFN of Middlesex in 1934Basically a late-thirties 327 built by BMW and supplied to Frazer Nash already badged as Frazer Nash–BMW, with Imperial instruments and in right hand drive. Fitted with the 328's 1971cc straight-six generating 80bhp (327/80)Only 19 were imported with around 12 believed to have survivedUnderstood to have been fully restored by the TT Workshop around 2005Part of BMW UK's Historic Fleet since 2015 and displayed at various eventsCurrently being recommissioned by BMW and will be offered running and drivingAbsolutely stunning but some cosmetic detailing would return it to a Concours standardBMW’s reputation as a manufacturer of sporting motorcars really started with the annual Eifelrennen event, held at the Nürburgring on 14th June 1936. Here Ernst Henne beat a field that included 1½-litre single-seat racing cars driving the prototype of what would become one of the most iconic sports cars of all time – the legendary ‘328’. The fact that this victory had been achieved only eight years after BMW’s establishment as an automobile manufacturer is all the more remarkable.Capitalising on this success, the company launched a new range of models that would become the foundation of their reputation as a manufacturer of the highest quality cars with power and style. The flagship of the range was the 328 which incorporated a lightweight tubular chassis and a powerful straight-6 engine with overhead valves and triple carburettors. Alongside the 328, BMW offered the 327, a delightful sports tourer based on a shortened, boxed, ladder-type chassis with semi-elliptic rear springs, a Hurth 4-speed gearbox and hydraulic brakes all round. The 327 was available with a choice of two engines, one was BMW's standard 6-cylinder but, for an extra few Deutschmarks, the car could be fitted with the 328’s 80bhp unit. This engine was the masterpiece of designer Rudolf Schleicher and although only displacing 1,971cc, it utilised hemispherical combustion chambers, inclined valves and twin downdraught inlet ports generating a very credible 80bhp in standard tune. This design had two rocker shafts, one situated above each bank of valves, giving the engine an external appearance almost indistinguishable from that of a twin-overhead-cam design but with considerable cost saving. It proved capable of developing even more power and after the war would be used by Cooper, Bristol and Frazer Nash with great racing success. In 1934, a cooperation agreement was concluded with BMW, which made Middlesex-based, Frazer Nash the general importer of these German vehicles for the British market and at the same time allowed them to sell the cars under their own brand name as ‘Frazer Nash-BMW’. The cars were built by BMW and supplied to Frazer Nash already badged as Frazer Nash–BMW, with Imperial instruments and in right hand drive. When fitted with the 2-litre engine, they were known as ‘Frazer Nash-BMW 327/80’. This arrangement continued until the outbreak of war in 1939 when, unsurprisingly, it was rapidly terminated. Only 19 Frazer Nash-BMW 327/80s were imported and, it's believed, only 12 remain. The stunning piece of automotive artwork on offer here is indeed one of those surviving 12. AFN imported DAK 760 into Isleworth in early 1939 and it would be wonderful to tell you that we know all about the car's history since then, but we don't as very little documentation exists. We do know, however, that it was fully restored around 2005 by marque specialists, TT Workshop, and judging by a very similar car also restored by TT Workshop, the restoration costs would certainly exceed the car's guide today. It has formed part of BMW UK's Historic Fleet since 2015 and has been displayed at various events over the years.Attractively finished in Midnight Blue over Cream with blue pinstripes, the car has real presence displaying none of the stately Teutonic pomp normally associated with pre-war German cabriolets, but echoes the elegant lines of thirties' Alfas with styling cues that suggest the work of those ‘swoopy’ blue and cream creations beloved of the French coachbuilders. The story is continued throughout the interior. Lavish Navy Blue leather and luxurious matching pile await you as you open the door and the whole thing is capped with one of the most beautiful dashboards we have ever seen with cream-faced Art Deco-style instruments and clocks surrounded by an array of Bakelite switches and knobs echoing the beautiful wireless radios of the era. The folding soft-top appears in excellent condition and the jack etc. are neatly stashed in the tidy engine bay. One can only imagine the reactions of people when this cabriolet was first released in 1937, it still draws gasps today. It’s a design that’s very much of its time, yet an enduring one. 32,586 miles are indicated on the odometer, naturally not warranted, and the car will be offered running and driving with the braking system currently being overhauled by BMW and general recommissioning works being undertaken. It's an older restoration with limited recent use and inevitably there will be certain items that may be inoperative, for example we have been made aware that the clock and cigar lighter are inoperative and the fuel gauge a little temperamental. There are one or two areas in need of further cosmetic detailing but overall this remains a stunning example of 1930s automotive elegance and your personal inspection is welcomed and encouraged. A stunning FIA 'Group A' BMW 635 with an interesting history and built to a high standard by Vink Motorsport.‘RA-2-49’ originally sold to Fritz Moller and campaigned in DTM / 24 hour races at Spa + NürburgringIn 2012, ‘RA-2-49’ sustained fire damage so was eventually taken to BWM expert, Ton Vink of Vink MotorsportIt was decided, with advice from Matter, to turn RA-2-49 into a benchmark 'Group A' 635 utilising a replacement bodyshellBosch Motorsport built the engine to modern standards. 320bhp and 400Nm of torque are reportedA couple of years ago this car was entered into the competitive Peter Auto series and finished 2nd after a spin in the wet whilst leading by 25 secondsSupplied with its FIA HTP (Class CT40 valid until 31/12/2030), well-engineered and offering a gateway into some of the best racing in EuropeSilverstone Auctions are delighted to offer this BMW 635 CSI Group A car to the market. Originating from BMW Motorsport in 1984, ‘RA-2-49’ was originally sold to Herr Fritz Möller who campaigned the car in certain DTM events for three years from 1984-1986. He also entered some endurance events including the 24 hour races at Spa and the Nurburgring. The car then had multiple owners and ended up with Michael Bonk Motorsports in around 2005 as he and his father were mechanics for Fritz Möller back in the DTM days. MBM restored the chassis but the car was subsequently sold to Joseph Kolliker, who completed the restoration in 2011. Sadly, in 2012 the car was heavily fire damaged in a workshop blaze and, a as result, it sat untouched for many years until it was later purchased as a project car. After doing much research, the new owner decided to enlist the services of the world-renowned BMW Motorsport expert Ton Vink of Vink Motorsport in Holland and it wasn't long before ‘RA-2-49’ was on its way to Amsterdam in search of a new chapter. After careful deliberation and due to the fire damage, the previous accident damage and the original alloy roll-cage still being part of the car, it was decided to enlist the original BMW Body Experts at Matter Motorsport for some advice on the best way forward. The experts at Matter, with the new owners consent and on the advice of Ton Vink, finally decided to replace the body and start fresh from the bottom up with one simple aim - to make RA-2-49 a world-class benchmark for Group A 635s whilst simultaneously showcasing the skills of Vink Motorsport. In terms of the power unit, it was decided to enlist BMW engine experts Bosch Tuning, who basically renewed the complete engine using modern techniques and knowledge which has resulted in an amazing 320bhp and 400Nm of wonderful torque. The gearbox has been fully rebuilt using brand new homologated internals from Samsonas and the LSD has also enjoyed a rebuild with complete new internals. Intrax dampers were decided upon for their performance (not their cost!) and brand-new period brake callipers fitted all round.Once finished, a couple of years ago, the 635 was campaigned in its first and only event in the very competitive Peter Auto Series and was leading by 25 seconds until a rain shower caused a spin, however, second place was secured, impressive to say the least first time out.Supplied with a set of six wheels and its FIA HTP (valid until 31/12/2030), this well-engineered Touring Car would undoubtedly be competitive in the right hands offering its next lucky owner a gateway into some of the best historic motorsport in Europe.SpecificationMake: BMWModel: 635 CSI GROUP AYear: 1984Chassis Number: NARegistration Number: N/AClick here for more details and images
