Albert Edward Houghton was aged 19 years, the son of Alice Houghton of 4 Peckham Street, Bury St Edmunds, and the late Benjamin Houghton. Whilst serving with the 7th battalion of the Suffolk Regiment, he was Killed in Action on the 28th April 1917. He is commemorated on Bay 4 of the Arras Memorial.

AN OFFICER CASUALTY TRIO 25th N. FUSILIERS. (TYNESIDE IRISH) A 1914/15 Star named to 17500 Pte P C Cox. Notts & Derby R. British War & Victory Medals named to 2/Lt P C Cox. Percy Cyril Cox served with his Regiment in France from the 26th January 1915. He was commissioned into the Northumberland Fusiliers (30th Battalion-Training) on the 3rd December 1915. Then into the 2nd Battalion 25th N Fusiliers (2nd Tyneside Irish), on the 18th April 1917. Posted missing during an attack on the 28/4/1917, later confirmed as Killed in Action on that date. The medals were sent to his father, H E Cox esq, Chestnut Grove, Radcliffe on Trent. Nottinghamshire.. Aged 21 the son of Henry Edwin and Lily Cox of the above address. Commemorated on bays 2 & 3 of the Arras Memorial.

In April 1917 the Royal Flying Corps suffered their heaviest losses during the Battle of Arras otherwise known as "Bloody April", 245 British Aircraft lost to the 66 German Aircraft. (1)

A GREAT WAR TRIO OF MEDALS TO PRIVATE W.R. WYLLIE, (QUEEN'S OWN) ROYAL WEST KENT REGIMENT comprising the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal 1914-20 and Victory Medal (all S-465. Pte. W.R. Wyllie. R.W. Kent. R.), officially impressed, bar mounted for wearing; together with research suggesting that William Ralston Wyllie (1868-1949) had previously served with the 5th Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers before re-enlisting on 3rd September 1914, at the age of 46 (he claimed to be 44). Then living at Bromley he was placed into the 8th Battalion of the Royal West Kent Regiment and landed at Boulogne in August 1915. He was sentenced to forty-two days field punishment for being drunk and disorderly in April 1917, and in October of that year he reported sick and was diagnosed with myalgia and neurosis. This led to him being sent back to Britain and on 31st May 1918 he was medically discharged. During his period of active overseas service he is likely to have fought with his Battalion at the Battles of Loos, 1915; Delville Wood, 1916; Vimy Ridge (Arras offensive), 1917; Pilkem Ridge, 1917; and Langemarck, 1917.

Great War Photograph Album of Gallipoli, Royal Scots and Tank Corps Interest, the album was compiled by 2nd Lieutenant Harry Bryce. Starting in 1914 with images of troops at camp Larbert. Album continues with travel to the middle east via Gibraltar and Malta. Images identified as being taken in Gallipoli, good clear image of troops in a trench, X Beach, Captured Turkish prisoner. Album moves away from the middle east and then moves to the western front with images of graves in the Arras cemetery and an image of an officer of the 17th Battalion Royal Scots who was killed. In 1917 it appears that Bryce became attached to the Tank Corps as the album starts to show images of men, mostly from Scottish regiments, by tanks etc. Large format publicity images of Bryce’s tank which was named Julian, at war bonds events in the UK, including image of manoeuvres being carried out in front of spectators. Album continues with some smaller size snapshot images, all of tank interest. The album ends with images taken during the army of occupation and civilian life. Images are all housed in a period photograph album, most images have annotations below the image. Accompanied by some post war scrolls awarded to Harry Bryce. (233 images)
