Similar French Second Empire Period 19th Century Dragoon Helmet.
A good example, the brass skull with leopard skin turban and to the crown of the skull a good quality metal comb, to each side floral leaf decoration. The front with a flaming grenade device and above is a Medusa’s head looking forward. From the comb a flowing black horse hair plume and to the front a brass holder supports a black horsehair brush. A brass floral leaf plume holder supports a scarlet cut feather plume. Complete with floral bosses which support and interlinked chin chain. The interior retains only part of the leather liner. The overall condition is good with some age wear. gilt worn to base brass metal.
