A LACQUERED SILVER SNUFF BOX AND TWO LACQUER KŌGŌ (INCENSE CONTAINERS) Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, 20th century The snuff box rectangular with a convex profile, with a hinged cover decorated with a goldfish and water weeds in red, silver, and gold hiramaki-e on a roiro-nuri ground, signed Namiki kan Ippa (Fukujū Takeshi), the interior with silver hallmarks; The first kōgō formed as a long-eared hare decorated in gold hiramaki-e against a ground of fundame, the eyes inlaid in glass, the interior nashiji; The small cylindrical kōgō with a flat, inrōbuta (flush-fitting) lid decorated with a hare in gold and red takamaki-e on a bright kinji ground, the interior and base nashiji, with a wood tomobako storage box 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 x 3/4in (8.2 x 6.3 x 1.9cm), the largest (3).
