ANONYMOUS Chinese Landscape Edo period (1615-1968), 19th century A pair of six-panel byobu (folding screens) painted in ink, with sprinkled kirikane on paper mounted on a wood lattice and within a silk brocade border, in a black-lacquered wood frame; one screen depicting a scholar on a donkey with an attendant visiting his friend in temple complex located in rocky hills; the other screen set in a snow-laden mountainous landscape, depicting another scholarly figure on a donkey with an attendant proceeding along a path leading to a mountain valley on the right; both unsigned. Overall: 164cm x 359cm (64 9/16in x 141 3/8in); image: 148.5cm x 342cm (58 1/2in x 134 5/8in). (2).
