A KUTANI-WARE LARGE TWO-HANDLED BALUSTER VASE Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, 20th century Decorated in enamels and gilt, the body with two elaborately framed panels enclosing revellers enjoying the hanami (cherry-viewing) season on the shores of a lake and two warriors engaged in combat in the other, the remainder of the vase decorated with repeat ornate bands of shippo-tsunagi (linked-cash), hanabishi (flowery-diamond), stylised chrysanthemums and other geometric patterns; signed on the base Kagakoku Kutani sei Taniguchi tsukuru. 46cm (18 1/8in) high.
