UTAGAWA KUNISADA (UTAGAWA TOYOKUNI III, 1786-1865), TOYOHARA KUNICHIKA (1835-1900), UTAGAWA KUNIYOSHI (1797-1861), AND OTHERS Edo period (1615-1868), mid-to late 19th century An album in concertina form, consisting of approximately 80 oban tate-e prints laid down on sheets of paper, comprising: more than 60 sheets of yakusha-e, the majority incomplete sheets from polyptychs by Toyokuni III; and more than 10 sheets of bijinga and other subjects by various artists including Toyokuni III, Kuniyoshi, Yoshitora, Yoshifuji, and Hiroshige II; all variously published and variously signed; with cloth-bound covers. Overall: 36.5cm x 25cm x 2.5cm (14 3/8in x 9 13/16in x 1in); each sheet, the smallest: 34cm x 23cm (13 3/8in x 9 1/16in); the largest: 36.5cm x 25cm (14 3/8in x 9 13/16in).
