Walker, Eric A Lord De Villiers and his Times

This early work by Walker, later famous for his History of South Africa, was written more than ninety years ago, when he was still Professor of History at Cape Town University (before moving to Cambridge). It remains a great South African biography, of one of the country's great Chief Justices and, at the time of his death and the outbreak of the First World War, was the South Africa's Acting Governor-General.


Blue cloth-boards with gilt lettering to the spine. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut. Plain endpapers. Tissue-protected photogravure frontispiece portrait. xvi pp of prelims including chronological table + 525 pp of text and index. 


CONDITION. The binding remains tight but the boards are lightly rubbed. The contents are complete, undiscoloured except for light foxing to the first and last 2 leaves, and unmarked. Overall, a Very Good copy.
