Spode, Copeland, England. China service set in the pattern "Trade Winds Red" depicting ships in red and rimmed with gold. The set includes four serving dishes, one bowl, one tea kettle, one small dish, two saucers, one gravy boat, eight teacups, one large dish, eight fruit dishes, eight salad dishes, eight lunch dishes, eight dinner dishes. Each marked along the underside; each ship depicted is noted along with the date it was built.Provenance: From the Estate of C. Curtis "Curt" Dunnavan, Long Lake, Minnesota.C. Curtis "Curt" Dunnavan (1926-2022) was a passionate world traveler and avid collector. It was through his travels that he was inspired to begin a lifelong relationship with the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), becoming a major sponsor of the institute and facilitating the growth of their Asian art department, which is now one of the best in the country. His generous donations to Mia allowed them to establish a fund for the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, one of the few endowed positions of this type in the museum field. He additionally served as a trustee of the institute, advocating for its operational growth. In its turn, the museum established a gallery named in his honor in recognition for his endowment fund and numerous contributions to their collection. The selections here showcase his talent and breadth of collecting, ranging from ancient statues to 19th-century woodblock prints. His appreciation for art persisted throughout his life and we are honored to offer items from his collection in this auction.Height ranges from 1/4 in to 8 1/2 in; diameter ranges from 3 in to 10 1/4 in; width ranges from 3 in to 14 1/2 in.Condition: There is light wear throughout the set, mostly located along the footrims, consistent with light use. To the creamer there is a large crack and repair near the handle; see lot listing photo. There are two spots of discoloration to the spout of the teapot. There is heavy crazing to the glaze of the smallest platter.
Spode, England. 80 piece China dinner service set including: two serving platters, one serving bowl, one lidded soup tureen, one gravy boat, one small lidded pot, a creamer, a kettle, a jug, a small oval serving plate, 12 teacups, one mug, 13 saucers, 12 small plates, 12 salad plates, eight lunch plates, and 12 dinner plates. Each marked along the underside and with the scene depicting noted such as "Leaping the Brook," "The Chase," and "Taking the Lead" among many more.Height ranges from 1/2 in to 9 1/2 in; diameter ranges from 2 1/2 in to 16 1/4 in.Condition:There are no major chips, cracks, losses, or restorations. Very light wear throughout, mostly along the underside, consistent with minor use.

A Garniture of three Spode pattern 2575 spill vases, circa 1820, each well decorated with panels of summer flowers, and flower sprigs on a rich blue and gilt ground within beaded borders, each raised on three gilt paw feet, the centre vase with cover, script marks SPODE and pattern number 2575 in iron-red, 13.5cms and 15.5cms.
