Provenance: formerly the property of Sir John Reeves Ellerman, 2nd Baronet (1909-1973), who was a shipowner, natural historian and philanthropist. He was the only son and heir of the shipowner and investor Sir John Ellerman, 1st Baronet, believed to be the richest man in Britain in his day. Gifted to the current vendor's grandfather, thence by descent.
