The Colombie, built at Dunkirk and the second of the company’s vessels to bear the name, was launched in July 1931 and ran between the Caribbean, Cuba and France as a merchant ship until the outbreak of war, when it was armed. In December 1942 the vessel was requisitioned by the US and converted into a troopship, renamed the USAHS Aleda E. Lutz in honour of the female war hero of that name. In April 1946 the ship was reclaimed by the CGT and continued to serve between Le Havre and the West Indies until 1964, when it was sold; the ship was scrapped in 1974
